Lifetime of American Cars

The current condition of the American car market is pretty crap. Sales are down double digits and to make things even worse, the economy is in a recession and overall global car sales are down.

Not to long ago when driving on any highway in North America, 95% of the cars on the road were american, compared with today when it's nearly impossible to find a newer american made car on the road.

The american car market started to slide in the late 80's early ninetys and continued to slide downhill througout the ninetys. As the millenium came about, gas prices started to rise and consumers started to look to foreign cars which were smaller and consumed less gas. The american car manufactuerers were building bigger and more gas hungry vehciles and the consumers were demanding the opposite.

The prestige of owning an american made car no longer exists; in order for that to happen again the american car manufacturers will have to roll up their sleves and come out with cars that are good on gas or run on alternative energy sources like electricity and still deliver a car that is up to the american car standards.
