Q: buick skylark............?
well a 350 or 400 gm tranmission......fit into a 1972 buick skylark......what kind of touqe converter do i need for the tranmission?....please help
A: Those transmissions were offered in Buicks back then. The standard automatic was the 350. The 400 Turbo came in the GS package. They are the same found in Olds Cutlass and Pontiac Lemans/GTO. The torque converters for both transmissions will interchange. I'd use one from a 350 in either the 350 or 400, but it depends on what you are looking for.

Q: how do i change the radio in a 1997 buick skylark?
i want to change the radio in a 1997 buick skylark. How does the old unit come out?
A: well, you gotta take the dashboard apart , the screws are located in many parts of the dash , if you are putting in a new head unit that has no plugs , you need to pull out the old unit , it may be screwed in thanks to GM's theft protection , you need to cut the plugs off the ends , and connect the wires m the red and yellow wire on your head unit are your positive wire (red) and your memory cord , just connect both of them to your power wire , connect your ground wire (black) and plug in your antenna , after that you have nothing but speaker wires you connect then in sets like front left is one set with 2 wires and all the others are the same , after you strip and connect your positive and memory cords cap them off to prevent shorts , and connect your black ground wire to the black wire in the dash and cap it off as well , after you connect your speaker wires you need to either tape them or cap them , don't leave any bare wire showing , put your unit back in the dash put your screws in put the dash back together and your ready to go !! Good luck if you need any help contact me through messenger and i will guide you
Q: How to recharge 1997 Buick Skylark Air Conditioner?
I have the recharge kit.
There are two possible places to connect the hose to a 1997 Buick Skylark. I know I cannot connect the can to the high side. There is a Red cap connected to a larger pipe that looks like the high side and a smaller green cap connected to a wimpy looking connection with a tag about being an evaporator test connector for 1 PSI. Is this the low side?
Any suggestions would be appreciated as the Haynes manual is horrible and does not have the details. Thanks.
A: yes it is the green cap the quick disconnect should only fit on one side anyways
Q: How do you turn off the anti-theft light on a 1997 Buick Skylark. And why does my abs light keep turning on?
My Anti-Theft light on my 1997 Buick Skylark won't turn off. What could it be? How do I fix it.
Also when I'm braking, somtimes my ABS lights turn on along with my ETS lights. Does anyone know the reason? How do you fix it? Thanks
A: They are on because both of those systems have a problem. You fix them by taking your vehicle to a Buick dealer or independent shop with the neccesary tools and knowledge to diagnose, find and repair the problem.
Not having looked at your vehicle, anything I would guess, even though I am a Master ASE Tech and work as a Tech in a Buick dealership, would be just a guess and would serve no purpose other than to have you waste time and money throwing parts at it. Take it to a non-virtual reality tech, you know, a real person tech at a real garage and ask HIM what is causing the problem. THAT is how you should start to fix this problem.

Q: 1970 Buick Skylark with starting problems please help any help would be appreciated?
I have a 1970 buick skylark and i believe that i burnt out the starter on it i have a 455ci engine, and i would like to know how difficult it would be for myself and or a shop to replace the starter with regards to the actual labour intensity of the job..
A: It is an easy replacement two bolts 9/16 wrench or socket and a 5/16 wrench are vise grips and 1/2 inch wrench. The two bolts hold the starter on and the 5/16 and 1/2 inch is to undo the wires from the solenoid which is part of the starter. First disconnect the battery either side so there is no current running to the starter. Under the car you will see the starter is bolted on at the bellhousing passenger side this is the thing between the motor and transmission shaped like a big bell. Remove the 2 starter bolts and drop the starter down just enough to get to the wires on the solenoid Pay close attention where the wires go there are two different size nuts holding these wires on 1/2 inch and 5/16 remove the wires and then hook them up to the new starter slide the starter back into the bell housing it will only go one way just line your bolt holes up and put them back in. Reconnect the battery and you are good to go. If you do it about 50 dollars if they do it about 150 dollars. It is easy you should do it and learn.

Q: need help locating modulator valve on 91 Buick Skylark?
I have a 1991 Buick Skylark and I need to change the tranny modulator valve, but I can't see it or it's hiding from me. Could someone point me directly to it's location? I know it's supposed to be on the front of the tranny under the intake manifold, but I don't see it.
A: Its on the back side of the transmission above transmission oil pan. Be careful though, because behind the cover is a very stiff spring and sometimes once you get the cover off, you can't get it back on!
Q: 1993 Buick Skylark, Is there anything else I can check before I change out the tranny?
I have a 1993 Buick Skylark, it has a 3 speed automatic transmission (no overdrive). I think the transmission went out because I can only drive in 1st and 2nd gear. My co- worker suggested to change the oil and filter. I did but the oil was brown when I drained it. That tells me the transmission was getting hot. Is there anything else I can check before I change out the tranny?
A: If the engine revs high before shifting you could have an engine sensor concern. This transmission shifts electronically using throttle position, mass air flow, manifold absolute pressure(vacuum), and vehicle speed. A sticking governor, or detent valve could also cause this concern.
