Q: cadillac!!!?
ok so my grandpa is buying me a cadillac. this is for real. he said he wants to spend all his money before he dies..and he is rich. hes even buying both of my brothers cadillacs. hes into cadillacs...i mean hell i'll take a cadillac.anyways im young, hell im only 17. the big question is, do i want and escalade suv(my brothers already getting the truck)..or should i get the car version..i want to keep in mind the gas mileage. the suv gets12 which sucks. and the suv costs 56,000. now im not sure what the car gets. but im guessing more. it also costs 34,000. i dont know what i want. help me in my decision
A: wow, Grandpa needs to shell out some money for the gas as well. Buy an SRX or a CTS or for that matter if granpa is loaded ask for an XLR roadster. All the best
Q: Why does my Cadillac studder when I first start it up?
I have a 1994 Cadillac Sedan DeVille with the 4.9 in it. As of the last week or so (the weather has gotten colder, if it matters), when I initially start my Caddy up and proceed to drive, within a minute or so, it starts to studder, almost like its missing. All I have to do to stop the studdering is pull over, turn off the ignition, and immediatly restart the car, and the problem goes away for the remainder of my trip. Any insight as to what this may be? Im baffled as it goes away after immediatly restarting the car. Also, when I first got the car it had the same problem, I replaced the Cat convertor, and the fuel filter and the problem went away completely. What could be causing the reoccurance? Thanks for any help.
A: hey there you might want to replace your o2 sensor it maybe why your plugging up your catalytic converter and replave your fuel filter thats normal for pluging up because there is some dirty gas any more and maybe its due for a tune -up new spark plugs and wires and distribitor cap and rotor and also get some feul injector cleaner and put it in a full tank of gas and if if it still has that same problem take it in for a scope reading hope this helps you out a little
Q: How many speakers are in my 1991 cadillac deville and what size are they?
I have a 1991 cadillac deville and i would like o Know how many speakers there are and how size the speakers are? I looked in the guide in it doesnt say in i just relized he book is for a 1993 cadillac deville anyways.
A: Four - two in the front doors, and two in the back parcel shelf.
If you have the Bose system, they are powered speakers - each speaker has its own amp, so you can't just switch them with regular speakers.

Q: Where can i get my Cadillac convert changed without braking the bank?
I have a 98 honda account and it needs a Cadillac converter. I was told it would it be over $500. Is that normale? Where is a good place to take it? Is it easy to replace yourself?
A: It's actually called a catalytic converter, and universals will sometimes work, but it depends on what the car's computer wants to see by design. Otherwise, you might need to get the OEM specific converter. Any exhaust shop can get one and put it on for you, it will need to be welded in, so I would suggest letting them take care of it. But this gives you more options to call around for a good price and some information to see which way you should go.

Q: How do I go about getting a cadillac cts ?
I was just approved for a 15000 dollar loan but that's not enough for the car I want. I want a used cadillac cts and the ones I'm looking at are going for around 23-24 grand. My question is, is it possible for me to get financed into the remainder amount of the car at a resonable interest rate?
A: The answer is "no." No bank will allow you to pay 2 loans for one car. You can never finance your down payment. And as far as finding a loan for the 23-24 grand: Believe me (especially with all the bad mortgage/interest rate news going around now) if one bank will cap you off at 15 grand all the others are going to be around the same amount. You won't find one that will give you 11 big ones more (I'm figuring in tag, tax, title and fees). It's all based on debt-to-income ratio, your payment history and your stability (how long you've worked and lived at one place). And all the banks get that info from the same sources. Believe me: they know how much you can afford. And it looks like after viewing that info they feel that you really can't be trusted to make the $400-500/month in a timely fashion to buy that car. They feel more comfortable at $250-300 or so. Now, if your trade-in is worth $11,000 you can have that CTS for the $15k loan.
Why don't you just buy what you can afford? I bet what your driving now is no where near worth 15 grand. So any newer car you get with the loan that you were approved for will be a definite step up. Wait until you've saved more money or have gotten a better job or lowered other expenses before you start purchasing your "dreams."
I know this isn't what you want to hear. Some day you have to face reality.
Q: What year did Cadillac quit requiring Premium gasoline?
I have been looking into buying a new Cadillac. I have a 1996 and looked at a 2002. The newer one uses regular gas. The older one requires more than 92 octane (premium). What year was this switch made?
A: 2000
Q: how much does it cost to insure a 1998 cadillac eldorado touring coupe wtih 80 thousand miles on it?
I'm planning on buying a 1998 cadillac eldorado for my first car. I am on a budget and was wondering how much it costs to insure one.
A: depends on your age/how long you've had a license, your driving record, and where you live. if your 24 and live in brooklyn , and have 1 violation on record, count on paying like $260/month. ugh. sometimes i wonder, if i didn't have a car, i could afford to live someplace i don't need a car (manhattan) lol
but i just looooooooove the freedom a car gives you, and the classy lines of my 1981 Oldsmobile Delta 88. ZOMG
Q: What are the row seats called that were in cadillac vehicles in the 60s and are they available in the Dts?
On the movie driving miss daisy the older Cadillacs had seats that go straight across and was not open in the middle. What are those seats called and are they available in the current Cadillac Dts?
A: They are called bench seats.
The DTS might offer a split bench, but nobody offers a one piece bench anymore - the problem with those was if the driver was short and the passenger was tall - too bad for the passenger!
EDIT - according to cadillac's web site, they have a "front flexible seating" option on the DTS which makes it a six passenger car. That would be a split bench instead of buckets and a console
Q: What type of coolant should I use in a 1996 Cadillac DeVille?
My parents' 1996 Cadillac DeVille was giving a low coolant warning. As I was checking it out, I noticed a tag that recommended only using silicate free antifreeze/coolant.
I'm not very familiar with this. What exactly is silicate free antifreeze? Can I get it at any autoparts store, or do I have to go to a dealer?
Thanks.
A: Dexcool is the GM silicate free coolant. If something else has been added, you need to do a good flush. Mixing different types of coolant can have some nasty consequences.
You can find Dexcool just about anywhere antifreeze is sold.
Q: How do you get the emergency brake of a 1966 Cadillac unstuck?
My husband has a 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood. The last time he took it for a drive, he parked it with the emergency brake on. When he tried to take it out again, he was unable to get it to come off. Does anyone know any tricks to getting the emergency brake to come off?
A: Raise and support the car with a small hammer and enough force to move the cable but not damage it, tap the cable starting from the back wheels up to the front of the car. This will help break the cable free from any rust, dirt and debris that is keeping it locked. Attempt to release the E-brake. if the brake releases use a quality penetrating oil (WD-40 Is not a quality penetrating oil as it repels water, It does have lubrication properties but it's the rust that we are trying to get rid of.) and soak the cable really well. once the cable has been soaked down, work the park brake a few times to make sure it is freed up.
the E-brake is still locked solid. What now? You next step is to work on removing the drums as the links in side the drums have seized. sometimes a few good smacks with a hammer on the back plate and sides of the drum will free them enough to release the E-brake. If this is not working then you need to work the drum off but hitting the inner edge with a dead blow mallet. they will come off but it will take a lot of work. Once they are off you can proceed to lubricate and work the E-brake lose. This has worked on every old classic that we have had here in our shops. Once you have it loosened it's a good idea to lubricate the cable once a year and use it at least 2 or 3 times a year when the car is out on outings.

Q: How do I rebuild a cadillac trunk motor?
The trunk on my 1993 Cadillac Sedan Deville will not close, somone told me that instead of purchasing one from a junkyard I can rebulid the one that is presently on my car.
A: Trunk locks (and motors) are hard to find now. I looked for someone else awhile ago. If you are lucky maybe you can find one in a junkyard but it is a tough road.
Q: How much should it cost to replace a thermostat in a cadillac?
My boyfriend has a 2003 Cadillac CTS. His engine light came on and the dealer told him it was his thermostat. They then told him it would cost 544 dollars to replace it. I think its ridiculous! Is that insanely high or do they really cost that much? I know a dealer will always be high but he used to work there and he thought it was under the extended warranty.
A: All I can say is WOW, just WOW. $544! UNBELIEVABLE. A thermostat is about a $20 part. Replacement shouldn't take more than half an hour. Any shop will charge a one hour minimum for the work. Most cars can get away without even draining the radiator, just a top-up at the end.
