Q: Which is is a better sports car, the Cadillac XLR or the Ford Mustang?
The only reason I'm asking this is because my brother thinks the Cadillac XLR is the best sports car, and I think the Ford Mustang is the best sports car. Which by the way he doesn't like the Dodge Viper.
A: Dude...Mustang? Everyone drives Mustangs these days...I'd pick a Cadillac XLR over a Mustang any day.
Well, I guess it depends what KIND of Mustang. If it was an '07 Shelby, I'd take the mustang. Other than that, the Cadillac.
But personally, I'd take a Trans Am over any of those...

Q: I am wondering... how many average sized bodies will fit inside the trunk of a cadillac xlr with the top down?
I am contemplating purchasing a Cadillac XLR-V but I would only do it if it could fit at LEAST 2 bodies in the trunk with the top down. They have to be able to breathe too... so not too tight of a fit. Anyone with an XLR could you please give me input of how much you can fit?

Q: CADILLAC ALANTE: is the new Cadillac XLR convertible sort of like an updated version of an ALLANTE?
I know the new XLR is a fast beast, but so was the 1993 Northstar powered Allante back in the day a few years back! So, is the new XLR sort of like a updated, new and improved version of an ALLANTE?
Also, has anyone here owned or driven either car, and do you like them?
A: The XLR did fill the spot where Allante' left off. However, they are not really related. The Allante' was in fact the world's fastest front wheel drive production car! The Allante started production in Detroit for the chassis and body was built in Italy by Pininfarina (the people who build Ferrari bodies)- the bodies were then flown to the US aboard special 747 Jets for final production. It was an expensive production process- explaining why they were around $65k when new and the XLRs were $77k when they came out. After 11 years- that's not a big jump.
Now, the XLR- many believe is a rebadged Corvette- that is not totally true. The XLR and Corvette are built in Bowling Green and the initial platform is similiar- but that's where the similarities end. The XLRs platform is more rigid than the XLR because of the drop top design and Cadillacs structural integrity rating they wanted ( they wanted the car stiff with the top down ). The XLR is Northstar Powered, different suspension set up all together- Different interior, many many more features standard, and retractable hard top made of magnesium. The closest set up to a XLR is a SL500 Mercedes. Drive a Corvette then Drive a XLR and you will be able to tell that they are different animals.

A: No, the engine configureation is a 94% parts difference between a 4.0 transposed engine to a XLR with a horizotaly postioned engine, i.e, block, intake water pump, mounts, heads, all different, there would be no fisical way to perfrome this swap unless you want a rear drive aruora, which there is no point for that either as the chasis would not acept the swap
Q: How to take the governor of a Cadillac XLR-V?
A: Probably easy enough to do by reprogramming the computer, but WHY? Unless you're going to be racing on a track, you'll never be able to safely hit the limiter - it's at something like 155 MPH.
Not to mention that your tires will overheat and lose traction pretty rapidly at higher speeds.

I think it's the 2007 Shelby GT 500! I love Mustangs and Shelbys! The only reason Im asking this is because my brother thinks it's the cadillac XLR, which obliviously the Ford Shelby GT 500 is better.
A: you have to remember that the gt was designed to race to start with.go with the gt. also much lighter than the caddy.

A: AS far as repair rates, there is probably no difference. Hourly rates will be the same for labor as German cars. Some components on European cars are not all made in Germany. Some parts are made in the Czech republic, Hungary, Poland, Turkey and others. This keeps down the cost as well. The Cadillac will definitely have a lower resale value for sure than the others. You will pay more for the others upfront, but in the long run they will be better. If you buy a XLR that is 1-2 years old, then you might get a good deal. Depends how long you want to keep it.

Q: I have a 2004 Cadillac XLR...?
I have a 2004 Cadillac XLR and I have some problems with its top. It doesn't come all the way up and it seems (I can hear it) that something is scraping (kind of) when I'm trying to put it up. I have it converted and I can't use it to go to work when it's raining. I tried a dealership but even looking at it costs me at least $2,300. Do you know a cheaper way to do this or do you think you know what is wrong with it?
A: That car should still be under warranty. I used to do customer service for GM. If you call customer service for General Motors, they have been known to pay at least a good portion of this if not all of it. Or is this an after market top?

Cad. replace the first set free. I had to pay for the second set, and they alread are showing wear. I have been back to the dealer numerous times. Anyone else have any suggestions or having any problems.
A: Sounds like the alignment is not set properly.
Take it to a reputable shop and have it checked. Was this car ever involved in an accident? It should state so on the paperwork....

Is there a compartment at the rear of the vehicle you can access with the key to enter this vehicle.? I am a tow truck operator trying to get info for the owner.
I was just informed that the vehicle owner does not have the key. I am still searching but I just read a review that gave info on how to get in with the key. I'm still searching. Thanks.
The door does not have a latch. It has a push button to open which does not work when the battery is dead. I have finally discovered that there is a keyhole under the rear bumper thaat you insert the key in to get the trunk open. Once this is does ther is a latch in the trunbk you pull that opens the door. I still don't know what to do if you don't have the key.
A: hook some jumper cables to the hot on the starter,and ground it out,you can charge the battery that way
