Q: Is Chrysler ever going to offer a better motor for the Wrangler Unlimited?
The 3.6 v6 in the Wrangler Unlimited is grossly underpowered. What is Chrysler planning on doing about this?
A: No they are not going to put a HEMI in it,it wouldn't pass the frontal crash test with a large motor.The engine is not that bad,I would add a cold air intake,exhaust and a power chip to give it more power.Not as easy as just slapping a HEMI in it,everything in the engine compartment would have to be moved.
Q: How does Chrysler make money off of the new gas promotion?
This may seem like weird question but how does Chrysler make money off of this promotion. This seems like they will lose money by doing the $2.99 a gallon. I guess they think more people will buy their cars so they can make it by it or there may be a catch i just didn't get. Can anyone help me?
A: The amount of gas, and miles are both capped. It works out to about $450 a year in incentives which on most of their models is far less then the cash rebates they were offering.
In short it's a gimmick to sell cars to people who are scared by the gas prices.
Q: Where on a Chrysler LHS can you connect a wire from the inside to the battery terminal?
I'm trying to put some lights on a Chrysler LHS 95 model and can't find any openings from the inside of the car to put the light's switch inside and connect the wires to the battery terminal. Where is there an opening? Thanks!
A: If you do drill a hole to run the wires you should protect them with a rubber grommet to avoid them rubbing and getting damaged. Try to find some wires already going from the engine compartment to the under dash area of the inside of the car. Often you can shove another wire through the same hole/grommet. Good luck.
Q: How will a Chrysler widow's pension be affected by what is going on right now with the auto industry?
My friend's grandmother is a spouse of a deceased Chrysler employee (passed away 2 years ago). What will happen to the pension she receives? In what cases will it get cut or eliminated?
A: In general, her pension is probably pretty safe.
Both union and salaried plan pensions are covered by a gov't agency called the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation (PBGC). This agency receives premium payments every year intended to build up a fund to guarantee pension plans from bankrupt employers. In many situations, when the company liquidates itself, the PBGC steps in and takes over the plan. You'd hear about this if it happened but would notice no change except that the payer of the monthly check would change.
Note that the protection is limited however. For a non-union worker or a union worker in a plan solely sponsored by Chrysler, a pension of up to about $50,000/year is guaranteed (assuming retirement today). The widow's benefit is unlikely to be that high unless the deceased was an executive or other high paid employee.
For union sponsored plans, the protection is typically much lower and structured differently. So if the deceased employee was a Teamster there issue is less clear cut.
Q: What happens to my Chrysler Financial car loan if the company goes under?
I have a car loan with Chrysler financial. If the company goes bankrupt, what happens to my car payments?
A: Some other loan company will take over the servicing of your loan, and you will have to pay them.
Q: What is your reaction to Chrysler's approach and will they recover?
Chrysler has shut down plants to reduce costs, they are planning to sell fewer models to increase profit, and are pushing their engineering operations into international countries/markets such as China, India, and Russia. Are they heading on the right track to cultivate new markets and profitability?
A: All the cost savings and off-shoring will not help if Chrysler can not manufacture cars and trucks that the public wants. The newer cars and re-modeling of existing lines are ugly, have poor finish and unknown or poor reliability. Chrysler is becoming an afterthought in the car-buying publics mind. They do not offer small fuel-efficient cars, just a-lot of larger cars with 'hemis' and big vans and trucks. And, they do not have a hybrid.
Q: is it possible to put a chrysler radio in a mercury?
I have a radio from a 89 chrysler minivan that I want to put into a 86 mercury grand marque. is this possible? will it fit? are there adapters avaliable to change the plugs?
A: You can purchase adapters for the wiring, but it might be difficult to make it fit. At the very least, you'll probably need to cut out a larger opening in the dash panel on the Mercury.
As far as the wiring is concerned, if you're lucky you should be able to combine this: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=265-616 and this: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=265-622 to make an adapter.
If the original Mercury system includes a factory amp, things become somewhat more complicated (and probably more trouble than it's worth to integrate the new radio).
Q: What causes boilover in a 1997 chrysler concorde, from the coolant reservoir drain hose?
1997 Chrysler Concorde, the top of the coolant reservoir (this car doesn't have access to the actual radiator, if you need to add fluid has to be done from the coolant reservoir) has the drain hose in case of overfill or boilover. The drain hose is attached to the reservoir, but the other end is not attached to anything. I noticed it overheating today, and when looking under the hood couldn't see any leaks. Under the car, there was a slight leak coming from the side of the reservoir (passenger side) almost behind and in front of the wheel. When I cut the car off, water started shooting from the hose for boilovers. That either shouldn't happen, or it should be routed back into the tank. Any clue what causes this? The fans work, and the top radiator hose gets pressurized while running, but after 5 to 10 minutes at idle it runs hot. Any clues?
A: either the thermostat may be sticking on it,or the radiator may be getting stopped up in the bottom of it ,that will cause them to do this real bad,and the only way to stop this is take the radiator off ,and have it cleaned out,it would be a good idea to have this done anyway ,if that's not it you can at least rule that out,but those cars were good for that,that would be where i would start looking on that one, ,that and the thermostat,good luck on it.
Q: How much does it cost the manufacturer to build a Chrysler 300 M?
I am wondering what the actual cost is to build the Chrysler 300 M before it is shipped to a dealer. How much does it cost Chrysler?
A: 1st - the 300M is no longer in production, it was superceded by the 300 and 300C. The 300M was a front wheel drive sports-luxury sedan which shared many components with the Dodge Intrepid, and Chrysler Concorde.
When you ask cost to manufacturer, what costs do you want included:
* parts costs
* labor costs
* engineering and product design
* certification costs (EPA, NHTSA, etc)
* manufacturing engineering costs
* tooling costs
* plant and corporate overhead
* advertising
* warranty fund
* etc
And in what volume? If you buy 10,000 of something, it is alot cheaper per unit than if you buy 1 or 10. For example, the products my company sells, to make one it costs about $3000-; to make 10000 per year, it costs under $50- each, plus about $75,000 in tooling. This does not include overhead, design, shipping, etc. We are a small company, with rather low volumes.
Q: How to drain fuel tank for 2005 Chrysler sebring?
I want to drain/empty my fuel tank for chrysler sebring car.
Please let me know the procedure.
I have nearly 3.5 to 4 gallon gas in the tank. I tried using symphon but it is not coming out. Probably symphon pipe is not reaching inside of the tank.
A: there are usually no drain plugs in the fuel tank for safety reasons, tha onmly way i know is to remove the filler neck and use proper syphon tube and syphon into aprroved container, i have also in the past removed the tank partially full and then drained.
Q: Are the Chrysler workers shooting themselves in the feet by striking?
What's to prevent Chrysler from closing shop and moving that plant to Mexico?
Rockin--he he that was classic.
A: It's a matter of taking a stand, even if it's a final stand. The GM/UAW compromise basically guaranteed that the next wave of workers to replace the current GM workforce will get paid half -- literally half -- what union auto workers are currently paid. No one, except public radio, has even mentioned this minor detail of the compromise.
Every day, the US comes closer to third world/ service economy status. The people mopping up the gravy are owners, who happen not to feel like sharing their vast profits with Americans. They feel this way because Americans want a living wage.
The union position may have its problems. But there's nothing particularly laudable in the owner/outsourcer position, either, imo. The company is bargaining from the position that those threatened with job loss will work for crumbs. They deserve a strong rebuff, with teeth.
We'll see how it plays.
Q: What is the actual cost to manufacture a Chrysler 300c?
I need to know the actual amount it cost Chrysler to manufacture the 330c. Not what it retails for, or the dealer price, the actual amount in parts to put it together. I believe it is somewhere between $4,000-$10,000. Where could I find the answer?
A: Its never going to be published but I think Terry is probably about right for high volume vehicles. Things that are in production for more than about 5-7 years also get much cheaper because the tooling is paid for. This is also about when its redesigned and you would get new tooling.
This is also why companies love trucks, SUV,s and luxury vehicles. They don't really cost any more to make than a sub compact economy car but the sale price is several times higher.
The Ford Crown Vic has been in production so long its almost all labor costs because tooling is paid for.
Q: What is the chrysler car with the elongated front end?
I think the car is a chrysler. It has the very long tapered front.
A: you're talking about the prowler ? http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dprowler%26fr%3DFP-tab-web-t%26toggle%3D1%26cop%3D%26ei%3DUTF-8%26fr2%3Dtab-web&w=600&h=440&imgurl=www.evanscooling.com%2Fgallery%2F99Prowler_ww_6.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.evanscooling.com%2Fhtml%2F99Prw_ww.htm&size=56.0kB&name=99Prowler_ww_6.jpg&p=prowler&type=jpeg&no=7&tt=46,010&ei=UTF-8

Q: Where is the electronic module located on a 1996 chrysler concorde?
I have a 1996 chrysler concorde LX I am trying to locate were this module is. Is it located under the hood or is it hidden somewere.
Is this the part I need to change when the car does not start, it cranks over just fine but i get no spark from the distributor. Or do I have to replace the coil and where is the coil.
A: I,m a Chrysler mechanic and Bravo is exactly right on the location of these modules.
Q: How can I disarm the alarm on a 1997 chrysler sebring?
Does anyone know how to disable the alarm on a chrysler sebring its a 1997 convertible coupe. I dont have the remote,its the factory alarm.
A: Use the key in either front door lock cylinder to unlock it. They should both have a disarm switch that will turn it off when the cylinder is turned. However, sometimes one switch doesn't work, so if that happens, just try the other door.
