Q: dodge caravan?
A dodge caravan won't start. took off filter and turned the motor over and no gas came out. I assume it is the pump that might be out.

A: yes, but not very far. Transmission and motor are not designed for pulling, not to metion braking power when you get it moving

I have a 1989 Dodge Caravan the fuel pump has been changed as well as the filter. Not sure what else can be wrong, anyone know?
A: It could be the plug,s or the wire,s they burn out on these motor,s because the heat is tremendous on these newer engine,s,,i would also check the distributor cap,,and rotary button also,,if it has any mileage at all on it,,and considering the year of it,,it probably just need,s a real good tune up,,as for the alternator,,everyone on here seem,s to think that the alternator,,causes everything,,well i have had my own business now for 35 yrs,,and never have i had a un happy customer,,so i guess that means something.

I want to buy a 2005 dodge caravan car but I found two types of this car on the internet they SE and SXT.
the problem is I don't know the difference between those two types...

Do the rear drum brakes on a 97 dodge caravan self adjust? or do you need ot manually adjust them as pads wear?
what kind of self adjusting mechanism is it?
fyi, the metal plate you mentioned IS the adjuster, im just lookgin to know if this particular car has that metal plate or not.
A: Yes it will adjust by it self but some times it gets rusted and will stop adjusting on it's own. You can take of the drum to make sure it is working properly

I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan with a 3-Liter V6. I'm replacing the pulley on the the belt tensioner. Is there a trick to keeping the tensioner from swinging down when tightening the pulley?
A: the tensioner can only go so far. Go to the stop point and tighten it from there.
Q: What is the difference between the 2005 Dodge Caravan SE and SXT models?
I have a 2005 dodge caravan and I was wondering the difference between the two so I can estimate it's value.
A: The SE is the Base model with a 3.3L motor. The SXT is the Special value Pkg with the 3.8L with trac. control, allow wheels, pwr doors, fog lights, trip comp., three zone temp. control and stow and go for late '05s -'08. Go with the SXT you really arn't paying a whole lot more but get so much more value.

A: i have seen them actually go to around 300 thousand before the engine lets go in them that's about the actual life span of one,even if taken care of a gas engine only has so many miles that it will go before the internal parts wear out in it,the most i ever seen one go was 323 thousand miles and all that was put on by a sale man who done all his driving on the interstate.good luck.

I recently bought a 96 Dodge Caravan, I have some trouble with it not wanting to start on occasion, I turn the key and just hear the seleniod, then when I come back later, it starts fine and will until it does it again, it's gotta be an easy fix, maybe the starter has a deadspot in it?
A: sounds like you got it right....a new starter should do it.
it is easy to get change out...just disconnect the battery first.

A: about 30-45 minutes with the right tools,you have to have an inner tie rod end tool to do that one with,but any shop can do this in less than an hour,if not find another shop,good luck.
Q: When my 1997 Dodge Caravan gets close to 1/2 of a tank of gas it cuts off?
When my 1997 Dodge Caravan gets down to close to a 1/2 tank of gas it cuts off on me and sputters like it is out of gas as long as I keep a full take of gas I don't have a problem. What could be wrong? I don't want to overpay for repairs that I don't need. Please help? Thanks.
A: I would say that your gauge isn't registering right, you probably need a new gas gauge sending unit and it's in the gas tank so the tank will have to be taken out to change it.
Q: How to fix my window of dodge caravan?
I have a 2002 Dodge caravan and the drivers side window does not always work. You have to push down on the window to get it to move up or down when it sticks. It doesn't do it all the time. The window is electric. Any suggestions?
A: u likely needs a new motor, try pounding on the door panel while holding the switch, yea it works sometimes that is a bad motor or a loose or faulty switch, u can only hope for a bad. switch.
the fix may be 150 to 600 dollars just google the ? in four or five words or less and u should find the same problems others have gone thru but found the easiest and most cost effective way of dealing with it.

My father bought a 2005 Dodge Caravan....he is from old school and hates the alarm systems....he wants to permantly disengage the alarm system....anyone know how to do this?
A: if its a factory alarm system its integrated in with the electrical system you,ll have to get a dealer to un-install it,other wise you,ll have problems from it starting,a dealer can permanently disable it for him if that's what he wants,good luck

Q: 98 Dodge Caravan has blinking dash lights and sluggish starter?
Our Dodge Caravan 98, had blinking dash lights and a sluggish sounding starter motor. I thought it might be the battery or connections but they're all polished and clean. I took the cables off the battery and doubled cleaned them instead. As we drive along the lights blink and over bumps the air conditioning will start to blow stronger then another bump later it will blow quieter. I cannot see any loose wires nor can I see the starter motor to check its connections. I know there's a Dodge guru out there that knows. Thanks
A: have the alternator checked out It could be a loose fan belt, or a bad alternator. The battery could also be dying
