Q: dodge durango?
I have a 1998 dodge durango how do you get the parking lamp off of the front of the suv under the head light my broke and i bought a new and just dont know how to get the old one off. need help, help me please
A: In between the headlamp and the park lamp, there is a small TORX head bolt closer towards the out portion of the housing. Remove it and the assembly will come out.
Q: What is the difference between a Dodge Durango SLT and a Dodge Durango SLT Pro?
1998 Dodge Durango, trying to check for factory recalls for my truck, just not sure which one mine is.
A: I've never heard of a Durango SLT Pro. Around 2001 or so they came out with a Durango SLT "Plus". It had two tone paint and leather seats. But in 1998 there was only one Durango SLT.
I don't know how you are trying to check for recalls but the best way to do it is to get the last 8 digits of your VIN number (vehicle identification number) and your mileage and call your local Dodge dealer and have them check the system for recalls that apply to your vehicle. Recalls are VIN number driven. Recalls don't necessarily apply to every 1998 Durango built. That can be a problem when trying to check recalls with online sites. They might show a recall for a 1998 Durango but it might not apply to yours.
Q: Is it bad for a 2006 Dodge Durango to sit idle and running for hours?
I have a 2006 Dodge Durango (5.7L HEMI) and my wife sits in it for hours while it is running just so that she can read her books. She turns on the heat, the lights (inside) and lets it run for hours. A mechanic told her in her face that is very bad for the vehicle but she still does it! Is this true?
A: It's not great for any vehicle. An internal combustion engine runs best and most efficiently when under partial load.
When idling, a couple of things may happen: 1) the most severe damage may be to the connecting rod bearings. Because of the relatively slow speed of the engine, more pressure is exerted on the bottom center and top center of the bearings. The faster the engine turns, the load gets spread out more evenly over the bearing surface.
2)The other effect is not so drastic. It is an idling engine may not get hot enough to start the catalytic convert working or hot enough to run efficiently. It may also load up the catalytic converter with fuel that could lead to an early demise of the catalytic converter.
As you already know, it is also a great waste of money ( as the truck is getting exactly 0.00 MPG while idling ) and it is bad for the environment.
Q: My 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 engine feel like it going to install in the morning also the tachometer move up a?
My 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 engine feel like it going to install in the morning also the tachometer move up and down! But when the engine had been warm in running for a while the tachometer stay still on idler! It got a new air filter and a pcv valve! Any suggest?
A: try having the computer scanned on it, a bad throttle position sensor will cause that too happen and a bad temperature sensor will also cause it to happen, that would explain why that when it warms up it runs better,a bad set of plugs will also cause one to do this, but it will create a bad hesitation point in it when its cold or hot, good luck.
Q: How much money is to rebuild a tranmission on a 2000 Dodge Durango?
How much money is to rebuild a tranmission on a 2000 Dodge Durango? When they rebuild they clean the tranmission ? Because right now I got a broke seal on the tranmission so I just waiting for the tranny to run out of oil to get it rebuilt! Is amazing with 92k miles already have a broken rear engine oil seal and the tranmission seals is leaking! Next time I buy a jappanesse cars!
A: they usually just trade your tranny to a rebuild shop for one that has been rebuilt and they put it in, your looking at $2,500 anyway for the tranny and installation.
Go ahead the next time and buy a foreign car and help america recover, thats why this country is in the shape were in because everyone thinks foreign is better, you better read the latest statistics on american cars VS foreign cars.

Q: Does anyone know why my 2000 dodge durango is getting moisture in the head of the engine?
I have a 2000 Dodge Durango and lately the check engine light has been on. When i took it into the shop there was a whipped mixture (water and oil mixed together) in the oil cap. One person i know also has a jeep and they share the same kind of engine and had the same problem. Has anyone experienced this problem and have any advice for me? Thanks.
A: First check your Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system and valve for proper operation.
Q: Where is the transmission dipstick located on a Dodge Durango?
The car is a 2004 Dodge Durango.
I need some help locating the transmission dipstick.
its not in the owners manual.
please help.
A: The passenger side of the engine is the right side OK! Look
down into the engine compartment from the right side. Down under the a/c lines at the firewall you will see a yellow knob.
It has a loop to put your finger in and pull.
Q: What you means about dropping the Dodge Durango from production? So you means Dodge Durango will be gone li?
What you means about dropping the Dodge Durango from production? So you means Dodge Durango will be gone like the Dodge Ariez K cars in the 80s? I think is a big mistake if they do that because what SUV would Dodge have? Like Ford have the Expedition and the Explorer , and Chrysler will not have any SUV if they do this they going out of businness soon!
A: thay are going to cut the durango becuse of all of the recales that thay have had on this suv recales are things that go wrong with and to many but thay will come out with a new suv because of the copotision with ford and chevy just give it time this will happen
Q: How do I change the heating/AC filter in my Dodge Durango?
I keep getting these chunks of black plastic looking filter material coming out of my vents when I turn on the AC. I cant figure out how to get to it to replace it. I think that this filter might also explian the musty smell coming from the vents. It is a 2000 Dodge Durango.
A: The foam stuff you see sticking out from the vent is not a filter material. It is insulation around the vents. If you want to fix it, you need to remove the entire dash and use duct tape and foam material. It required a lot of patience and time, i.e. about 4-5 hours.
Good luck!
Q: How do you do a burnout in a Dodge Durango?
2002 Dodge Durango
Does the car have to be in 2 or 4 wheel hi or 4 wheel lock in order to do it?
A: put it in 2 wheel drive take off the traction control and hold your foot on the brake slight amount and stomp it to the floor, its hard on a transmission though, but it will do a burn out,not good for the vehicle though at all to do it this way, dodge has enough transmission problems and this may add to it on this one, good luck.
Q: After getting the heads shaved on a 2003 Dodge Durango slt and aligning them back. Why won't the vehicle start
The heads were shaved and placed back on the 2003 Dodge Durango as marked. now the vehicle will not start. What could be the reason that it will not start. Everything aligned by the marks fine.
A: first cover your basics.
1. do you have compression(lifters may not be loaded or valves too tight)
2. do you have fuel(good pressure.
3. do you have spark.
4.any loose electrical conections,grounds,blown fuses.
Q: What could be wrong with the idle on my Dodge Durango?
I have a 2001 Durango. When I am driving the idle revs up by itself. When I am at a stop light with my foot on the brake (the car is not moving) my rpm's surges up and dowm as if I were tapping the accelerator. When in park the rpm's also surges up and down without me touching anything. Six months ago I had the idle switch replaced and my truck was fine for a month. My check engine light came on soon after that and the Dodge dealership fix that problem. It was the EVAP Harness. A week later it is still idleing. I took it back to Dodge and they cleaned the throttle. It is still doing it. I took it back to them and they still don't know what is causing it. HELP!
A: Most likely the Idle Air Control valve is bad.Maybe a vacuum leak but you can usually hear those and the check engine light would come on in a day or so. Possibly the Throttle Position Sensor(computer would think the throttle was open or more open than actual and therefore increase RPM). Lastly computer or software problem. Software can be re-flashed.
The IAC valve is most likely because thats common and it is unlikely for the CK eng light to come on with that problem
Q: Is there any way to get better gas mileage on a Dodge durango?
I have a 2001 dodge durango. I have upgraded the airfilter and the exhaust(both of which give a beautiful sound to the truck). These options should have given better gas mileage but i dont see it. It is properly taken care of, ..oil changes, ect..ect.. Any other ideas?
All stock tires and rims
Oil is replaced regularly as needed
...keep it under 2,000 rpms? Almost impossible for a durango, they are naturally fast trucks and rpms shoot up when accelerating(this does not mean i put the peddle to the floor when i accelerate)
A: Keep tires properly inflated.
Don't carry things unnecessarily, weighing down the truck will waste fuel.
Having larger tires than what the truck came with will decrease fuel economy.
Front wheel alignment. If the alignment is off, the truck will have more rolling resistance.
Synthetic engine oil ( using the prop or grade)reduces internal engine friction and helps marginally, with power and economy.
Change the oil regularly. If it looks black on the dipstick, its dirty, change it, and don't forget the filter too. Using synthetic oil doesn't mean it can stay in the engine longer, it gets dirty just as fast as regular oil.
Spark plugs...Platinum or iridium tipped spark plugs work better.
Ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor should be regularly replaced. This reduces the electrical resistance of these components and gets more spark to the spark plug.
Engine coolant should have the proper mixture. Having too much coolant / water mixture causes the water pump to work harder.
The oxygen sensors do need to be replaced after a certain amount of driving. I would recommend 60,000 mi ( 100,000km ).
And finally...
The Durango is a heavy truck. If fuel economy is your biggest concern??? I would start looking into something a little smaller, lighter. These beasts are not known for fuel economy. But they sure look cool.
Q: My tranmission on my 2000 dodge durango is leaking oil is a broke seal, what happen if I dont replace that s?
My tranmission on my 2000 dodge durango is leaking oil is a broke seal, what happen if I dont replace that seals will the leaks get worst? It too much money to get it fix b/c they got to take the tranmiisiion out in order to put the seal on it! Also the rear engine oil seal is leaking too, What should I do? Buy a jappanesse cars?
A: Yes you should get it fixed. Depending on how much oil and how long it has been leaking out determines how soon you should take it in. Yes, it probably will be costly to get new seal put in, anything that has to do with transmissions usually does b/c mechanics have difficulty getting at them to work on. However, getting it fixed now will lessen your chance of it seizing later, so take it to the shop.
