Q: How to install a sony cd player in a dodge intrepid?
A '98 Dodge intrepid, a Sony Car CD Player. I have all the wires that is need for installing it but the wires don't match like there color coded but the colors don't match. Do you have to use all the wires? Any suggestions? Im quite positive I have the right connection.
A: you can go to radio shack or wal mart either one and get and adapter harness that allows you just to plug this right in without having to cut or splice any wires at all, this is the safest way to install one and it also guarantees you that all the speakers are going to work right, its a plug and play deal when you use the wiring harness, this way no errors are made in wiring it other wise if you cross a few of those up you can damage the new radio plus possibly burn a wire out on the car also, good luck
Q: I am buying a dodge intrepid with 293000 miles on it?
I am buying a 1999 dodge intrepid that has 293000 miles on it. People say that it is bad but don't say what it means, there reaction means it is obviously not good.
So what happens to cars when they get alot of miles on them?
A: engine wears off and also the transmition you can not really tell just by looking at it because peple can add stuff to make it run good for few days then it goes bad
bes advice is get a mechanic check it out before you buy it they test for comprssion and emmissions
also look for rust and the health of the tires
some cars are well kept and miles mean nothing but you really need a mecanich to check it out if you dont know the car owners

Q: How do you replace a clock spring on a 2004 Dodge intrepid by yourself ?
I have a 2004 Dodge Intrepid. I need to figure out how to replace the clock spring and WHERE TO BUY IT!!! My car's horn isn't working and the airbag light has been on for over two months. There is a slight crackling noise when I turn the wheel. I am pretty sure that its the clock spring, but I need directions on how to fix it and where to get the parts. Thank you!!!!! Any help is truly appreciated!
A: you have to pull the steering wheel ,but first you have to disconnect the battery in it then remove the air bag and unplug it being really careful with it,then behind the steering wheel is the clock spring, you,ll need a good steering wheel puller and a lot of patience, and a good repair manual,i would never start any job like that without one,you can do it though i have seen a lot of people change their own and do a good job on it,the part can be bought at a dealer,i wouldn't go with a used one not on this part, its to much trouble to take back out, good luck.
Q: what is the empeg for a 1996 dodge intrepid?
Was wondering if anyone could tell me what the empg for a 1996 dodge intrepid is? Also is this a reliable car and would you recomend it?
A: This is the answer I gave FordWoman4life about her '96 Intrepid question.
I owned a '96 ES with the 3.5 V-6 & fully optioned. I purchased it brand new, rarely had any problems with it & found it to be dependable. I drove it all over Texas with complete confidence.
Realize you want to purchase a 10yr old car. With any used vehicle, unless you know the owner, you have no idea how they treated it as far as driving habits, maintenance & so on. If you do decide to purchase a used vehicle, hire a "lemon inspector" to check it out for you. Also ask for any maintenance records & run the VIN with a service to see if it's been in any accidents. Such a service is http://www.carfax.com/
Take the vehicle for a drive without the radio on. Try to drive it on both smooth & bumpy roads, feel how it handles & brakes. If possible, run it on a highway to see its response in traffic. Make sure all options such as the AC are working. I could list a multitude of things to look for, but you get the idea.
Another piece of advice is to find out what the "Lemon Law" is in your state.
Personally, if I were to purchase a used vehicle, it would be from someone I know. Or from a car dealership such as CarMax http://www.carmax.com I would try to get a vehicle no more than 5-7yrs old & with less than 100k miles on it. For instance, we recently purchased an '01 Accord from my sister-in-law with under 50k miles on it. We've been happy with it so far.
Another resource would be to check http://autos.msn.com to get an idea of reliability & maintainability. Do your homework first before opening your checkbook.
Hope you found this helpful
Q: what are the malfunctions for a dodge intrepid to crank over sometimes when starting the car?
I have a probelm with my dodge intrepid whenever i turn my ignition it doesnt turn over i have to keep turning it to start what are some malfunctions or advice what is wrong.
A: If the engine doesn't *turn over* (as opposed to cranking but not starting) consistently when you turn the key, it could be a loose connection, the starter solenoid or motor is going bad, or the switch in the ignition is failing. If power is getting to the solenoid/starter motor, you should hear an audible click when you turn the key - that will tell you it's not the ignition switch.
There are also safety switches that prevent you from starting the car if the car is in gear or if it's a manual, when the clutch is engaged. The safety switches can fail.
Good luck
Q: What is the easiest and fastest way to change a dodge intrepid's battery?
2000 dodge intrepid.
A: you have to remove the access panel on the right side then remove the the air box then cables and you remove the hold down bolts for it will come out through the fender well or just bring it up,i always come through the fender well one is as easy as the other is to do,clean your cables real good before you reinstall the new battery there kind of hard to get once the battery is back in,good luck and happy thanksgiving
Q: How do I remove the shifter knob on my 96 Dodge Intrepid?
I bought a new shifter knob for my '96 Dodge Intrepid and I can't figure out how to remove the factory-installed knob. There are no screws or anything, so I'm wondering if anyone knows how to remove it?
A: Yes, it has a "bolt". You need an Allen key set ($8), and in the front side you'll see the hex screw, if you see the new one you can notice the hole. good luck

I have a 95 Dodge Intrepid and sometimes when I'm driving the car downshifts for no reason. Q: What would be good price for salvaged 1993 Dodge Intrepid?
I am thinking of buying a salvaged 1993 Dodge Intrepid. It has already been repaired and passed the vehicle inspection. It handles well and an independent mechanic says it's only problems are a few minor paint scratches. The other person wants $1000 for it, but that seems high, given that the car has a salvage title. What would be a reasonable counter offer?
A: I think $1000 is a good price...for a '93 with minimum damage and a few scratches even if it is salvaged.
You can to Kelly Blue Book on line and enter the info for the car and they will tell you what it is worth.
Q: How do you change a battery in a 2001 Dodge Intrepid?
Could someone please write me some good instructions for changing the battery on a 2001 Dodge Intrepid so it doesn't turn into a 5 hour job. Thank you.
A: With the Intrepid, the battery is in a compartment inside the wheel well. The car need to be jacked up, and supported on jack stands (never work on a car just supported by a jack, if the jack slips you can be injured or killed by the falling car!)
You then must remove the tire. This will give you access to the battery panel cover. Remove the cover, and then take the battery hold down loose. Loosen and remove the battery cables, and slide the battery out.
Reverse the procedure to install the new battery.
This is one of those cars where it may be worthwhile to buy your battery at a place where they install them for free. The slight additional cost that you will pay for the battery at a place like that is well worth it.
It is a lot easier to do this on a lift in a shop!
