Q: Im thinking about buying a Dodge Viper and i want to convert it?
I am thinking about buying a 1995 dodge viper how much would it cost to get it converted to right hand drive?

A: i converted one last week-1850.oo american

Q: Whats your pick the new dodge viper or Zr1?
I mean the new dodge viper makes 600hp WITHOUT any supercharger or turbo the Zr1 makes about 620 but has a supercharger(if not mistaken) does this mean that the viper would win if it too had a supercharger?

A: yes... maybe. it doesn't have a supercharger though, is not designed for a supercharger and wouldn't last with one one as a result. the ZR1 is faster, handles better and drives better than the viper. it's also comfortable to sit in and won't cook you in the seat (the door sills on a viper literally get hot enough to cook eggs on) no brainer, ZR1 wins... easily.

Q: How long does a Dodge Viper last?
About how what does the mileage have to reach on a 2003 or 2004 Dodge Viper SRT-10 before it starts messing up? Thanks for all your help and I really appreciate it

A: to actually answer your question. the mileage range on a car. is potentially unlimited, thinking of it logically i would say around 200-240 if you find one with less then it would be fine ofcourse, thus thinking about your tunes and everything you would need done to the car. more then likely needing a clutch rebuild, and a engine tune, anything else that is needed is worth pennies compared to the major components, i have been a mechanic for many years. seen older vipers last for a long time but the transmission in them does go fast just because most people drive them hard, in my opinion if your looking to do anything to a viper it would be a aftermarket racing clutch. it would take any abuse you give it. thats just me i havent actually worked with these specific cars before but i do own 3 garages that fix every day trucks, cars, imports ect. and i havent driven a dodge viper either. but i will say this. any vehicle will last a lifetime as long as your willing to service it when needed. and watch what your doing with it. i hope you have fun with that new viper ;) and hey good luck with your car i hope that you get no mechanical problems and i wish you and your car a long happy life good luck ...max

Q: Dodge viper and the company hummer are being discontinued after 2009. Input?
Dodge Viper, the company hummer, saturn sky, chrystler pt cruiser, honda s200, there were a few others, but all of these are being discontinued. The Hummer company, and viper hit me hard, i love those cars! When this gas crisis is over, Hummers will come back, i hope. how do you feel about these cars being discontinued?

A: ive heard of the others but not the viper or sky. they already have a 2010 viper out so im not so sure how true that is

Q: Can you buy a Dodge Viper with Automatic transmission?
Could you modify a viper to make it have an automatic transmission then? Well i wondered since the corvette, the vipers rival can be bout with auto. corvette can be bought with an automatic transmission.

A: all vipers come stock with a Tremec 6 speed if u want to modify it, u better have money to spend, because if u want an auto, a crappy junky automatic transmission is not gonna cut it. ur probably gonna need a racing 4 speed to handle that power. it is a 8 liter V10, a dinky transmission is not gonna cut it, thats why they put manuals in it, it can take the power and stress. but once again, its a lot of money to get a good tranny that can handle the power

Q: Are there any glaring problems with the 1997 Dodge Viper GTS?
I am about to buy one in a couple of days and it seems that there are a lot of them with low miles or so they claim. Everybody says they have the best Viper and I am asking before I make the big jump.......Thanks in advance.

A: yes ,operating cost and insurance as well as some mechanical problems that will happen to it,if your buying this one have it checked really good before you buy it,most owners of vipers usually took good care of them, especially the gts models those were nice, just make sure your getting what your paying for,i know the price of this isn't going to be cheap,so make sure it has no hidden problems, most of those did real good if they was maintained, but they are expensive to keep up,and parts is really high for them, make sure you get your moneys worth from it,and have it checked really good before purchasing it,good luck with it.

Q: Can I put a dodge viper srt10 engine in a dodge charger with a srt8 HEMI?
They are both dodges so it should be possible.

A: Depends. How much money you got? They put that engine in a motorcycle but it probably (no joke) cost a million dollars!. I have seen lots of amazing engine swaps but the stranger they are the more engineering and fabrication that have to happen for it to work. Just because you got a tool set for Christmas last year, it doesn't mean you can do this in your garage! You will need to modify the body, relocate MAJOR structures including radiator support, firewall, suspension and possibly the transmission tunnel along with re-engineering the electronics. Definitely not a bolt in operation!

Q: Im painting my dodge stealth a charcoal color from a dodge viper how much could i expect to pay?
also if i paint my rims how much would that cost? its not the whole rim jusst 5 spokes.

A: If your looking for a good quality job it's going to cost. I just painted a 71 camaro candy apple red. It was a color change from brown, I did the complete car, jams, engine compartment ect for $1600. But this was with no body damage and no rust. So it all depends on the condition of your car and the quality of job you want.

Q: How does Dodge Viper SRT-10 VVT (variable valve timing) work?
I read that it has VVT on the exhaust side. As far as I know it uses a single cam in block design that controls both intake and exhaust. have they changed this? are there 2 cams now? otherwise how can it have VVT on the exhaust side only. Maybe they have some kind of special lifters or something. Thanks in advance for the responce. Although I've searched and didnt find any, pictures would be very helpful. EDIT: OK I don't need to know what VVT means or what it does. I'm asking how they can phase the cam to only affect the exhaust side. If the cam is phased it will affect the intake side the same because both exh and int lobes are on the same cam. Does it just phase the cam and affect both? like the GM system? or do they have a way to alter the exh side without touching the intake?

A: It electronically adjusts when the exhaust valves are open and closed according to engine speed and load. It requires what they call a cam phaser that controls the camshaft itself, which is specially designed for the variable timing. ---OK, found this page that explains it pretty good http://www.sae.org/automag/technewsletter/070402Powertrain/04.htm

Q: Where can I find the Dodge Viper wheels?
I like those rims and want to put them on my 09 Charger. I want the 22's in black with the red stripe around them. I live in California near Los Angeles and would prefer to buy them at a shop rather than online.

A: Those wheels are made by Factory Reproductions. Here's a direct link to the wheels on their site: http://www.factoryreproductions.com/wheels.php?co=dodge&wheel=3. They are also located in Chino, CA so you wouldn't have to drive far to get them. Here's a picture of the exact one's you're looking that are on a friend of mine's SRT: http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/6072/57830037to9.jpg He's AreTee on Mopar360.com, ChargerForums.com and LXForums.com, so if you have any specific questions he'd be the best person to ask. Also keep in mind that he has KW V2 coilovers on his car and it sits lower than stock.

Q: Why do you have to get different rear tires for a Dodge Viper RT10/ Roadster?
Why do you have to get different rear tires than the front tires?

A: The rear tires are a larger (wider) size to accomodate all of that power. Staggered front and rear tire sizes are quite common on high performance RWD cars.

Q: My boyfriend brags about his Dodge Viper, but recently lost to a old Honda Civic. How do you think he feels?
I know this has nothing to do with health, but possibly emotional health?

A: his viper must have run out of gas

Q: My buddy wants to put a nitrous kit on his Dodge Viper. Will this cause any problems or damage?
What are the consequences of doing this? Engine damage? Structural damage? I imagine it will go pretty fast when hes done.

A: wow your friend really has a need for speed. With a nitrous kit you will need an ecu reflash or a piggyback ece. If your car doesn't throw in extra fuel to accomidate for the extra oxygen released by n2o then the mixture will run lean and detonation in the cylinder will occur causing damage and eventually death to the engine.

Q: How much would auto insurance cost for a 1996 dodge viper?
I just need some sort of estimate.

A: actual rates on that one will vary a lot,for a person 18 with a good driving record i seen it for 400 a month, and that's the cheapest it was,it goes on up depending on the amount of coverage you want on the car, tops on it was 750 a month, for full coverage with a perfect driving record,no car is worth driving that much ,not to me,good luck.
