Q: Ford escape????
i have a 2001 Ford Escape V6 3.0L and it has no Radiator cap????? i looked and then i put antifreeze in the bottle. Why does it have no cap????

A: Most cars that don't have a radiator cap have a pressurized cap on the overflow tank instead. Many foreign cars have done this for years. One advantage is that you have less evaporation of the coolant. Just make sure the overflow tank is filled up to the "cold" line when the engine is cold, and don't open it when the engine is hot. If you suspect a problem, they can be pressure-checked just like a radiator cap, with the proper adapter.

Q: Why my 2001 Ford escape egr failure and valve blew up on the side?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape. For some reason while driving at high speed, the Side of my EGR Valve is blown out. Before that I had problems with misfire, I replaced two spark plug solenoids and the six plenum gaskets. After that the car was running weaken (without power). I replace the EGR valve, but the problems continue. I found that the tube going from the exhaust manifold to the EGR was extremely hot. What is happening?

A: you are running rich,,,does your cat, glow in the dark,, EGR has no relation on misfire unless the sensor is shorted or grounded misfire will cause you cat to heat up abnormally and running rich too, your check engine light shoul be on by now,,have it scan

Q: Would a Ford Escape be able to hold the box springs to a double bed?
I need to transport a double bed and the only vehicle I have available on short notice is a Ford Escape. Would it be big enough? Multiple trips are an option as long as I can get the box spring in (since it would be the largest and most inflexible piece.) What do you guys think?

A: it might fit inside at and angle but probably not but this is an easy thing to haul regardless because you can put it on the roof just put a thick blanket on top of the car first if you don't have a roof rack so you don't scratch the paint and buy some tie downs at local hardware store or walmart for around 10 bucks put the box spring of there tie it down and your off just make sure you secure side to side and front to back.

Q: What do the airbags of a 2005 Ford Escape look like when deployed?
My 2005 Ford Escape was in an accident. It doesn't look like the air bag properly deployed. The side curtains look fine, its the drivers airbag from the seat that I question. It was a driver side impact, to just in front of the driver.

A: Questions like this are asked and answered all the time here. There are specific items that are required replacement items when a deployment occurs or when an airbag light comes on...and there are some items that are "check only". Check out this website for the EXACT answers to your questions including fault code charts. This site tells you exactly what needs to be replaced, where they all are and how to access them (seat belts & all) on over 3500 cars. It's a pay site, but it's little money well spent to get the correct answers and to see exactly what you're after...it uses pictures, not text, so you can see what you’re looking for. http://www.airbagsolutions.com Good Luck...it's not too bad of a job & if your state allows it, used parts or parts from ebay should be ok

Q: Any opinons on the Ford Escape hybrid from people who drive it?
I really want to buy the Ford Escape Hybrid in the fall when I finally give up on my gas-guzzling Jeep. I was just looking for real opinions from people who drive it. Is it what you expected? What could be better? Thanks!

A: I don't own one, but my in-laws do and they were just in town with it so my husband and I got a chance to spend a lot of time in it. They've had it about a year now and like it a lot. Their miles per gallon is about the same as I get in my small sedan (there's a graph you can display on the console that tells you what mpg you're getting as you go; I thought that was interesting to see). One thing they mentioned on this trip was when they got stuck in traffic on the freeway they didn't use any gas idling, since it could run off the battery--something I didn't think about.

Q: Is there a way to turn off daytime running lights for ford escape?
I have a 2006 Ford Escape XLT and I was wondering if there is a way to make it where the daytime running lamps aren't always on. I thought Daytime Running Lights (DRL) were supposed to turn off if it was sunny outside, but I guess I was wrong.

A: I think that in your fuse box, if you follow the key you can take out the fuse for the running lights. But I am not 100% positive.

Q: What cars are similar to the Ford Escape?
I am looking for a two row mid size SUV car that is black with black interior. Apparently, there are no Ford Escapes that met those specifications. I am not looking for specific listing on cars just list me types of cars that are similar to the Ford Escape or the Nissan Xterra. Thanks.

A: The Mercury Mariner and Mazda Tribute are built on the exact same chassis as the Escape. Other small SUVs similar in concept to the Escape: Honda CR-V, Jeep Liberty, Saturn Vue, BMW X3, Kia Sorrento, etc.

Q: What is the optimum cruising speed in terms of mpg for my ford escape?
I want to figure out at what speed I will get the maximum mpg in my ford escape. If you don't know what it is, is there a way to figure it out?

A: about 50 mph, but you can cause traffic jams at that speed :(

Q: What is the best and cheapest way to add freon to your 2003 Ford Escape?
I have a 2003 Ford Escape XLT. Recently, the air conditioning has started taking a little longer to cool down the car. The air flow just doesn't seem as cold as it usually does. After driving for a short while, the air finally gets cold. Does this mean that the vehicle needs more freon? The air conditioner has never been serviced, so is this a possibility? How much does it cost? Where is the best and cheapest place to have this done? Thanks! The extended warranty on the vehicle has already expired since the vehicle has over 70K+ miles.

A: Yes, it sounds like you need more refrigerant ("Freon"). Cheapest way is to do it yourself. Go to auto parts store, they will sell to you a kit, and explain to you how it works. There will also probably be an instruction book inside of it, to show you how. It's not very hard, and a heck of a lot cheaper than having a pro do it. Even then, it's not that expensive, unless the "pro" tries to rip you off, by saying you got a leak, and charging you for stuff you don't really need. It is normal for loss of some refrigerant over a long amount of time, but so many so called "pro's" are con artists, and can rip you off, so be careful and shop around for an honest one.

Q: Should I buy the 2008 Ford Escape or wait for the 2009 Escape?
Currently Ford is offering $2500 rebate on 2008 Ford Escape. I am waiting for the 2009 Escape that is expected to hit showrooms later this summer. Do you think Ford will still be offering that kind of rebate on the 2009. Or are they just offering that kind of rebate on the 2008 because they need to make room for the 2009's?

A: If you can afford the 2009, I would wait for it. Ford did the redesign of the Escape gradually. For 2008, the restyled body appeared, but on essentially the same chassis as the previous design. For 2009, the Escape gets an updated chassis to complete the redesign. It should be a significantly better vehicle.

Q: How can I make my 2001 Ford Escape look awesome?
Okay so I have a 2001 Ford Escape, and I want it to look really sweet, inside and out. What should I add to it? Like accessories, body work, ect. I'm really into horses, if that helps, haha. I want to get stuff for the inside thats like horse themed, but I cant find much, anybody have any good websites? Thanx!

A: You could try horse themed floormats, seat covers, and steering wheel cover. If you could find items like this for Mustangs, but that just have the horses, not the Mustang logo, it would work ok. You may also look for window tint that is for Mustangs. You could trim off the Mustang logo, and just have the horses on the back glass. You could also get a themed front license plate, if your state doesn't require a front tag. Lots of places sell those. My wife's 01 Escape AWD has a hummingbird themed front tag. I would leave the outside pretty much alone, except for the front tag. It already looks good as it is! Just a few ideas, and good luck!

Q: How do you change the fuel filter in a 2003 Ford Escape V6?
I need to change the fuel filter in my Ford Escape. Any ideas how difficult this may be? Other than the fuel filter, what parts or tools do I need? How long will it take--an hour, an afternoon?

A: some of those cars has those quick connects on the filters. go to auto zone and rent the tool to take it off. with the right tool you should be back on the road within, i,ll say any where from half hour to 45 minutes.

Q: How do you fix a broken door handle on a 2000 Ford Escape?
The outside handle of my 2000 Ford Escape will not open the door. I can open it from inside the car. How do you remove the panel to fix it and what might the problem be?

A: Obviously the problem is the loose nut grabbing the handle from the outside! NO....the problem is that the handle has a small ear broke off on the inside of the door. the rod that moves the door latch hooks into this ear and they wear out over time. to fix it you have to take all the screws out of the door pannel then pop the clips out of thier lock slots in the door itself. then you reach inside the door where you can't see .........undo two nuts that hold the handle on then remove it from the outside.

Q: What do you think of the Ford escape hyrbids looks?
What do you think of the Ford escape hyrids looks? in your opinion, what do you think of the ford escape hybrids apperance? if any, Favorite color? If you've seen it, what do you think of the interiors appearance?

A: When they restyled the Escape in 2008, the Hybrid also went thru some major changes. They are such a great vehicle, it is difficult to get one and orders take 6 months to get. The Hybrid is only good for you if you are doing a minimum of 80% city driving. The interior is very user friendly and I really like the display on top of the dash that has your outside temp, compass and radio features. Make sure you order SYNC with it, you'll love it. As for color, believe it or not white looks great on it, as does the Black Pearl.
