Q: How do I relieve fuel pressure on my 1990 Pontiac Bonneville?
I would just like to know how to relieve fuel pressure on my 1990 Pontiac Bonneville so that I can change a fuel filter and possibly some fuel injectors.
Please try and be as specific as possible, as I am not that technical. I wouldn't say I know "just enough to be dangerous." I would say I know just a little more than that. :)
Thanks.
A: well if you remove the fuel pump fuse the car wont start to clear out the fuel so with the car running remove the fuse most of the pressure will release but no matter what you do when you take the filter off you will get gas and if filter is very restricted then you will get spray because it is still pressurized

I have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville with around 80,000 miles. It has been a great car but recently The steering wheel has started to click loudly when i turn the wheel. Can anyone tell me why its doing this and maybe how much to fix it?

Q: Where can I get a grounding point diagram for a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville?
I have a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville that is displaying symptoms of a loose ground in the passenger compartment. I am having trouble locating a diagram that shows me where the grounding points are. Do any exist? How can I obtain them?
A: Not that I am aware of but all of the grounds are attached to a part of the chassis metal in different locations and are normally a green or black wire. Look for any wire that is screwed into a peice of metal that is not attached to any accessory.
Q: 97 pontiac bonneville low oil pressure when warmed up?
I have a 97 pontiac bonneville. when i start the engine up the oil pressure's fine util it gets warmed up then the needle drops. It doesnt go all the way into the red it just fluctuates right over it at idle. Would replacing the pcv valve and putting a thicker grade oil do anygood? Or could it be the oil pressure switch malfunctioning?
And yes i checked the oil level its completley FULL!
A: High mileage cars usually have engine wear which produces lower oil pressure when warmed up. You could have the pressure checked at a shop with a good mechanical gauge tapped into the oil switch port to make sure it's not a bad sending unit or dash gauge---they did have problems with those units. Could just be the engine bearings wearing out or the pump. I recommend switching to a heavier grade of oil like 10W-40, 15W-40 or maybe 20W-40 or 50---you may have to play around a bit to get the right grade oil to bring the pressure up--- and I also recommend you add a product every oil change of 3000 miles called Engine Oil Supplement or EOS which can be found at most GM dealers parts dept's---it's a much better product than most aftermarket oil additives and was developed by GM engineers for superior lubrication. Don't forget that adding thicker oil will cause your gas mileage to drop a bit and may be very hard to start the engine in colder weather.

Q: How many shop hours would i be charged to put a transmission in a 97 pontiac bonneville?
How many shop hours would i be charged to put a transmission in a 97 pontiac bonneville and any other parts extra.
A: Depending on which transmission it is (apperantly there were two used in that model) 7.3 to 8.0 hours is the book time, including the torque converter and driveplate, but doesn't include transfering other parts.
Depending on what you actually needed, it could be more or even a little less...
Q: 1997 pontiac bonneville. What causes a transmission to work then not to work?
I have a 97 pontiac bonneville and I went out today and my transmission was puttering on the highway and it just gave out. I hit the gas and it didnt move. Then I let it sit for a little while and started it up and it went back into gear and I was able to drive it. I drove it for about 10 seconds then it gave out again, i hit the gas and it didnt move. I let it sit again and I was able to drive it again. It worked long enough to get me home. Does anyone know what it could be? I put a new kit and transmission fluid in about 3 months ago so it cant be bad fluid. I just dont understand, usually if a transmission goes, it goes completely. Why would it work then not work then work again. Could it be the transmission pump? Thanks
I have checked the transmission fluid level and its fine. It was a little low but nothing major.
I put in a new kit and fluid 3 months ago and the car ran fine all this time up till today. All of a sudden I couldnt drive it.
A: how did it work right after you put new oil in I suspect the oil is burned

Q: Where can I find a Ram Air Hood for a Pontiac 2000 Pontiac Bonneville?
I need an actual ram air hood, not just hood scoops to add to the existing hood. My current hood has to be replaced anyway due to some issues with it. I prefer the new hood to be fiberglass, but I will consider carbon fiber. Maybe steel too, but I don't want it to be too heavy. Must be a complete ram air hood, made specifically to fit a '00 or high Pontiac Bonneville SSEi. I'm amazed at my lack of luck trying to find one online.
A: I own a shop, do restoration work, and buy a lot of hoods. You can check out a company called "Harwood", and if they can't help you, then you are pretty much out of luck with a complete hood. They run pretty close to $500 plus shipping. You shouldn't be amazed at your lack of luck finding one, because its a supply and demand thing. Unless there is a big demand, then no one will make them. Harwood might custom make one for you, so it would be worth the effort to contact them. I have used their hoods for a while now, and find they fit good, but often have dents in them from shipping. If all else fails, have a custom shop fabricate one for you. A stock hood could be turned into a ram air hood, and if the shop is good, it will look good too. I just have a feeling you are looking for something you may not find ready made for your Bonneville, as the demand would be small, and for someone to tool up for a carbon fiber one, would take more money than they would make on just a hand full of hoods. Making a mold for this hood in glass, or carbon fiber, would cost a lot, and I'm not sure they could make a profit on the deal.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
Q: How do you change a Dimmer Switch on a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville?
I have looked at everywhere to see how I can change the Dimmer Switch for the headlights on a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville,It is in the Steering colum
A: It is really stupid. You need to take off the inst cluster trim piece. To do that there are screws in the tp of it and on the bottom. To get to the bottom screw you need to take the panel at your knees off, the screws should all be visable on this. When you get through all of that take the two torx screws out of the switch and disconnect all the wires going to it. i think there are 3 blocks to unplug.
The 2 knobs will need to be pulled off to get the inst cluster trim off.....just pull.
Q: pontiac bonneville?
what does SSE/SSEi mean? im a major pontiac fan (idk why) but i never could come up with an answer. i just want some other opinions from other pontiac fans.
A: Hi Sim,
Thats a great question. what DOES it stand for? I was never sure myself, but if you're looking for guesses, I'd say........
SSE - special sports edition. (3.8L MPI )
SSEi - Supercharged Sports Edition Injected. (3.8L injected and supercharged. )
Or.....??
I have a 93 pontiac transsport SE. I can only assume the SE mean 'special edition'.

Q: Where is the Turn Signal Flasher Located on a '95 Pontiac Bonneville SE?
I've been trying for hours to figure out where the Turn Signal Flasher is on my '95 Pontiac Bonneville SE. I don't have the manual and I'm not even sure what a flasher looks like so any information or instructions would be very much appreciated.
It's not working and not clicking at all.
It's all good, I finally figured it out. I turned on the hazards and figured out where its 'flasher' was. It's a small silver cylinder, about an inch in diameter, located under the black plastic cover. The Turn Signal flasher is the same, but located to the right of (and a little behind) the fuses, again under the black cover.
A: If it's still working, turn it on and follow the clicking sound.
Q: 2000 Pontiac Bonneville is overheating, what can I do?
My wife's 2000 Pontiac Bonneville was overheating, there is rust and chunks of gunky stuff mixed in the radiator water, any suggestions?
A: Have the coolant flushed for starters if it's that bad. Make sure the cooling fans are working and that the coolant is at the proper level.
Q: Why does my 94' Pontiac Bonneville shifts down to 3rd gear while running long periods of time?
My 94' Pontiac Bonneville has a mysterious transmission issue. It shifts down into 3rd gear and stays there until I reset the computer or let it sit and cool. I have changed the computer and I am still experiencing this problem. Any ideas?
A: The OD is controlled through the temp. sensor. It could be defective.
