Q: pontiac g5?
What is yall's opinions on the new pontiac g5? it's the only 2 door car that I like the appearance of(besides the acura rsx and older civics). I hate those cars that are round on the back if you know what I mean. anyways i'm looking to get a g5 and was wondering if it is dependable and what not..

A: i just got one 2 months ago and i love it. i have no issues with blind spots or small trunks. its nice and small and easy to handle and fun two drive. i got the gt w/ manual. i would just reccomend not getting black, its a pain and every little scratch shows up.

Q: When should I do my first oil change on my pontiac G5 2007?
I bought a Pontiac G5 end of July this year. I got to 6000 kilometers today, oil life is still at 50 % ? Arent you supposed to change oil every 5000 kilomerters or or 3 months ? should i change it ASAP ? Thanks for the info, but does anyone have anwer as to why my Oil life meter still says 50 % ?? Also I though you had to wait longer for the first oil change?

A: I jsut bought a new car and am about to do my first oil change at 1000 miles. I also always thought that you were supposed to wait longer to do the first oil change to let the piston rings break in, but almost everyone that I have talked to says this is not the case. The dealer also told me something about the engine being broken in at the factory, but my car is a Mazdaspeed so yours may be different. Anyway the system says 50% oil life left because it works based on mileage. It will hit 0% when you have gone the reccomended miles for a change. The station will reset the system each oil change and it will start counting down again. The 3,000 mile 3 month rule is BS and was coined by Jiffy Lube or other places like that to get more business. Look in your owners manual for the true reccomendation. Most cars say 5,000 to 7500 miles for normal driving. If you take frequent short trips or drive your car very hard you should change it more often. If it were me I would find a G5 forum online and see what other people say for the first change. If you don't want to do that I would just change it now and then change it at 5,000 miles or so from now on.

Q: What will adding an air intake kit, or performance exhaust to my four cylinder Pontiac G5 do?
What will adding an air intake kit, or performance exhaust to my four cylinder Pontiac G5 do?

A: You will see some horsepower gains (by adding high RPM torque) but you will lose some low end torque. Unless you have a manual, you will likely have the same or a slightly slower 1/4 mile time because you won't be able to launch the car as well. It will also make it feel slower unless you rev the engine. If you had a V6 or V8 this wouldn't be a problem, because those cars are typically traction limited from a stand still anyway. Both the intake and exhaust will make the engine much louder. If you like the car, and you want to go faster, GM Performance Parts sells a bolt on supercharger kit that won't void your warranty. Add a cat-back exhaust to the supercharged engine, and you'll have a lot of fun and suprise some people who take you lightly thinking it is just a "fart can" and CAI. If you are serious about drag racing, get a cheap V8 rear drive car. An LSx Firebird is one of the cheapest cars to drag. If you want more fun out of your daily driver, go with the supercharger.

Q: How safe is the 2008 Pontiac G5 Coupe?
I am thinking of getting a 2008 Pontiac G5 coupe and I just want to know how safe it is, anyone have any idea?

A: 4 star front driver 5 star front passenger 4 star side 4 star roll over

Q: what is the wheel offset for a pontiac g5 base?
i want to take off the hub caps and put some chrome rims on my pontiac g5 base, but i need to know the offset. also what is the biggest size rim that will fit?

A: Not recommend to get bigger than 20's offset: 42mm bolt pattern: 4-100, tire size 225/30-20. Where 20's will fit most likely with a suspension upgrade 22's would fit. Depends on how you drive. I wang my ride, so 20's sittin pretty. Needed spacer in the back to it a proper lift.

Q: What is a better teen car, Pontiac G5 or Honda Civic?
I love the pontiac G5 but it is a little more expensive then the honda civic. If i got the honda civic i would want to customize it a little witha new body kit. If i got the G5 i wouldn't need to customize it becuase i like how it looks now. which do you recomend

A: I have to say that my dad suggested I get a Honda Civic for me to drive as a college student and that it would have good gas mileage, and is good for city driving.. a G5 on the other hand is what I might have preferred back then...A G8 will be my next car. I am just getting out of college and I will be moving out soon enough and think that car would be great to drive to work and just around... Overall, both are nice cars for teens, but I would stick to GM since that's what my first two cars were... and I like GM better.

Q: What is wrong with my ambient temperature sensor in my Pontiac G5?
I have a 2008 Pontiac G5 and it seems like the ambient temperature sensor doesn't always update. I have had the sensor replaced and the dealership says this is normal. It seems that if is 90 degrees when I start the car and the last reading was 63 degrees that it would update, but I have to drive several miles before it does. Is this normal? Has anyone else noticed this? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

A: Check the electrical connections - sounds like a loose or corroded connector.

Q: Question about keyless entry on a Pontiac g5?
I want to get keyless entry in a 2008 two-door Pontiac G5. It has no power locks so I was told I need to get door lock actuators. What other parts besides the remotes are needed? I figure it would be cheaper to get the parts on eBay or somewhere online and then get it installed locally. Oh, and will "Universal" door lock actuators really work on any car? Thank you!

A: You cant get a factory kit any more from GM so you would have to get an after market kit. It could be pricey because you have to get someone to take the door panels just to put the kit in. I would save your money and get something else.

Q: Is there a way to turn off the seat belt warning on a Pontiac G5?
Yes, I know... If I would just put it on the noise will stop. So if you are going to respond with that answer, then please don't respond. I also have a Ford F-150 and there was a sequence I had to do to stop making it give off the warning signal. Is there a way to do it to the G5? And yes, I read the manual and I can't find an answer to it.

A: I know, you said not to bother to respond, but given my background I'm going to anyway, since I have seen MORE than my share of wrecks. And I've seen way too many fatal ones that would not have been fatal had seat belts been used, including way too many children thrown around in cars because it was just way too much trouble to buckle them in, or "They undid it themselves." Buckle the seat belt. It take only seconds to do, the noise stops, and you may save your life.

Q: Do my brakes need to be replaced on 2007 Pontiac G5?
My 2007 Pontiac G5 has about 35,000km. and the brakes have started squealing. It used to happen only when braking hard, or if the vehicle was loaded/heavier. The past couple days they are squealing during just regular braking. Is this normal wear, and it is just the wear indicators that I'm hearing? or is it more likely that there is actually something wrong with the brakes? My thoughts are that they shouldn't be that worn after only 35k. Thanks!

A: It may be. The 2007 Pontiac G5 has Consumer Reports' Worse-Than-Average rating in the Brakes category. Quite an achievement for a relatively new car. The Pontiac G5 is also on AutoOnInfo.net's list of the Worst of 2009, based on its reliability performance from its outset.

Q: I am trying to install a peformance chip in my pontiac g5 gt?
I was trying to install this performance chip in my g5 and in the instructions it says I have to cut the ecu cable that goes to the sensor and put it there but the problem is that I dont know which cable coming out of the ecu is the sensor one, thank you!

A: I am a GM drivibility tech for the past 22 yrs and ASE master certified. Do what you wanna do, but all Im saying is- your asking for trouble. The next generation OBDII systems will create all sorts of problems for you. No starts, SES lights, etc. Suggest leave it alone- you want more power in a car? then buy a car thats built for speed

Q: Are the chevy cobalt and pontiac g5 same headlights?
i want to get new projector halo headlights for my g5 but i cant find any will the cobalt halo headlights fit into my pontiac g5? if any one knows a site for pontiac 2007 g5 for halo projecters please help. will reward best answer haha

A: The Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 share the same headlight design. Project headlights for the Cobalt will also fit the G5. The absolute cheapest place to pick those lights up is eBay. If you'd like to check for used sets, try a site like CobaltSS.net. Many people sell used sets on there.

Q: Insurance Question for owners of the 2007 pontiac g5?
Im a 22 yr old male, never had a car before, just got my license; and im about to purchase me a new pontiac g5. Im wondering how much i can expect to pay for insurance every month?Plz help!

A: Get quotes BEFORE you commit to the purchase! There's NO possible way for anyone to give you any sort of meaningful numbers here since so many factors go into pricing auto insurance. Your age, marital status, location, driving record, the vehicle itself, estimated usage, purpose of use (pleasure only, commuting to work or school, business, etc.) all factor into the quote. If you buy first and then go looking for insurance you may find out that you can't afford to insure the vehicle. That wouldn't get you out of the car deal, either. You'd be screwed by your own hand. Get educated BEFORE you buy! Going at it the other way around can be a VERY expensive lesson. If I bought one of those it would probalby cost me $50 a month here in small-town rural MO. But I'm 54 with a spotless record. If I were 22 and still lived in Boston, it would probably cost me $500 a month.

Q: i need to know what tools i need to change the oil in my 2007 pontiac G5?
i just got a new pontiac g5 and i want to change my own oil, i just dont know how to find the pan, or what tools to use, any suggestions? is there a website with a diagram or something? thanks,

A: An 07 would be under warranty, Unless you have receipts that show you had the oil changed at an approved garage, and anything happens to the motor you will be S.O.L. From the sounds of it you are to far from being someone who should even attempt to open the hood let alone change your own oil. sorry if I sound rude but your warranty could be compromised if you do it yourself. Pay the few extra bucks and have a shop do it. Heck ,ask if you can watch, you may learn something

Q: Does it state in a '06 brochure for a Pontiac G5, that GT models comes standard with XM radio?
Can't seem to find my brochure for 2006 Pontiac G5 Pursuit. Thought it stated that Gt models, have a standard feature for XM satellite radio. Dealers telling me it was an option in 2006 and it's now standard for 2007+ GT Models. If anyone has the brochure or any other information please answer back. Thank you.

A: 2007 was the first model year for the G5 or the Pursuit (Canada). There was no 2006 G5. XM was standard on the 2007 GT models and an option otherwise. In 2008 it is supposed to be standard for all trim levels.
