Q: Is it possible to add a supercharger to a pontiac grand am?
I have a 2002 pontiac grand am with a 2.2L ecotec engine. I have found a supercharger kit but it only works on 5-speed manual transmissions. Is there one made for automatic transmissions?

A: Check out http://www.eatonperformance.com/superchargers/M45.html for a supercharger that may work on your car. Don't listen to whoever said the supercharger kit only works with a manual tranny.

Q: How do you change a fuel pump in a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am?
I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am, V6 engine. It's having a hard time starting up and running (it takes a few turns of the key and a couple presses of the gas pedal and than when I put it in gear it kind of chugs when I give it gas and than dies) my husband changed the fuel filter and it was pretty clogged up. He says the next step is to change the fuel pump but is not quite sure where to start on how to do it. How do you change the fuel pump?

A: it's in the gas tank, you have to take the tank down to get it out and the pump is very expensive to replace.

Q: How to put a stereo in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am?
I was wondering if anyone knew where there was information about how to put a new stereo in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. Thanks! I pretty sure that doesn't help me nor does it help answer my question....

A: gaownersclub.com or grandamgt.com tons of information and many pics or here's short how-to 1- Use a flat head screwdriver to pry off the little round ignition key plate thing. 2- Carefully pry off the plastic piece around the stereo, hvac etc, & pull lever back to 1st to make it easier to get the plastic part off 3- Unplug the ets, hazard at top & cig lghter at bottom. 4- 7mm socket to take out screws that hold in the stereo. 5- Hopefully you bought a kit with the wiring harness so the wires just plug in. Also the antenna adapter. 7- Put things back together.

A: The radiator itself is somewhere around $180 - $250. GM cars are usually pretty easy to work on, so I would guess you are looking at 2 hours of labor on top of that. Going rate is somewhere around $40 an hour here in St Louis area.

Q: What kind of car light do I need to fit a 2002 Pontiac Grand AM?
I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand AM and the POP OUT LIGHTER thingy is missing.... What size/kind do I need for it? I found these lighters at auto zone but everyone said for 2000 only and there was like 7 different kinds.

A: check with your owners manual, Ask the parts person at a local dealer, Parts store and ask the sales person about it and the "it fits in list" on the package. Use common sense and check around also check the local junk yards if they have any of your types of cars in stock and that you want to find if they have the lighter in it still. I think i gave you some good options so good luck!!! :)

Q: How do I remove a CD player in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am?
I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am with an after market CD player in it. I think the fuse is blown in the back and the only way to get to it is to pull the CD player out. I'm not sure how to get the plastic piece out of the dashboard to pull the player out. Has anyone done this before or know how to do it?

A: its easy to trim out. simply pull it off. the simplest way to do it is to put your thumb in the cig lighter and just simply pull. now once that comes off your going to have to unhook your hazard lights, and your trac control. this is easy as well. for the hazards you'll need a small flat head. one those are unhooked move the piece to the side. you'll need to move the gear selector out of park. pull up on the parking brake, turn the key to on, and move the lever to drive or lower.once the trim piece is out of the way, then you'll see 3 screws. there either 7 or 8mm. i'm pretty sure there 7, but i'm not 100%. take out those screws and pull the radio out. there are then 2 conectors on the back of the radio. one is the antenna, the other is is all the electrical and everything. take those out, and the radio comes right out. oh one last thing, when you pull the trim off, the plastic trim piece around the key is going to come off. thats normal, and it will pop back in. just make sure you catch it, or see where ti goes. i've pulled out my radio about 15 times, its really not hard. good luck

Q: How do you replace a turn signal switch in a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am?
I need to replace the turn signal switch in a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am GT (6 cylinder). Is it difficult to replace? Do I have to take apart the steering column or just the housing? Any advice would be helpful! Thanks.

A: remove the steering wheel. install lock plate press, remove c clip, remove lock plate press, remove screws holding turn signal lever and switch. remove lower knee bolster, disconnect turn signal harness. make the connector go long way like the wires and attach some mechanics wire then tape it tight, slowly pull the turn signal out making sure the mechanics wire slides up with it, tie the wire to the new switch and reverse procedure. its easy if you've done it a few times but the first time blows, oh ya, in the middle of the bottom middle of the columb theres a black wire sheath kinda hidden, slide it out and toss it. I've done 100s of these and never had a wire pinch or chafe because it was missing

Q: How do you apply a rear view mirror on a Pontiac Grand AM?

A: there are kits that you can get at your local auto parts store to reinstall it........be sure to follow the directions.......use alcohol to clean the area where you are going to place the mirror and be patient and let it cure....otherwise it is likely to fall off again

Q: How do I replace the stereo in my 1996 Pontiac Grand Am?
Ok, here's the details. I recently purchased a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT. I'm wanting to put a new sound system in it, because the one it has is awful. 2 of the speakers are blown, and it's just all around awful sounding. It still has the stereo that came with the car, which is the AM/FM/Cassette player with Theftlock. What kind of adapters am I going to need? Will I need to keep the original player hooked up because of the Theftlock? I've installed a stereo before, but it was in a 95 Cavalier that didn't have the Theftlock. Thanks in advance for any advice given!

A: i have a 1996 lumina with theft lock. I just yanked it out without regard. Those radios are really worthess and if someone really wanted one they could find the code to get it to work. You'll need a dash adapter(din), a wiring harness adapter, and an antenna adapter(if you use the radio). the beauty of our cars is that they are so easy to take apart. I wired in my new one in 30 minutes and most of that time was looking for my crimp set. good luck.
