Q: Anyone know why a 2000 pontiac Grand Prix makes a scraping sound when making a hard left turn?
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. When I make a U-turn or something similar, it makes a scraping or grinding sound. This is only when I turn left. It does this in reverse, also. (I think it's louder in reverse.) I am not braking. It doesn't scrape all the time, just when doing a hard turn. We checked the power steering fluid and it's OK. Does anyone have any clues as to what this might be? I would appreciate any help you might have. Thanks so much!

A: your cv joints might be shot. if not, check the boot, it could be catching on something

Q: How to: turn on the lights inside a pontiac grand prix 2006?
My friend just asked me of how he can turn on the lights inside of his pontiac grand prix 2006 while the doors are shut. I've read the manual and I can't figure it out my self. Is there some hidden button somewhere or is it impossible to turn it on while the doors are shut?

A: use the dimmer switch. Turn it all the way up till it clicks and the dome light willl come on.

Q: Stock exhaust size 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, for fitting of different tips?
I am just wondering if anyone knows the stock exhaust tip size for a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. I am looking to buy some aftermarket tips to set off the back end of the car, and I believe the size is 2.25" but not certain. If anyone can confirm this, or know the size that would be GREAT! Thanks!

A: Take a tape measure out to the car and measure the tips - simple ..

Q: Upgrading from a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix SE to a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP?
I have a bone stock pontiac grand prix with an aftermarket air intake and tires. Other than that my car seems pretty boring. I want to upgrade to a GXP that has all the options. I'n selling my car for $8,500 and hoping to save up to another thousand so I could put a down payment on the car I want and not have the loan be $700 a month. Should I upgrade or not?

A: if I were you I would save up a few extra bucks and go back to a 2005 GTO. The Grand Prix, in it's waining years, suffered numerous mechanical flaws. Go to any dealership. The lots are teeming with GPs.

Q: How do you remove the ignition switch from a 1995 pontiac grand prix?
Recently bought a 1995 pontiac grand prix but the key is missing. So I would rather replace the ignition switch all together. How do I remove the old one when I don't have a key?

A: remove the steering wheel and turn signal assembly.there will be a screw hold the ignition swith in place. remove it and the switch slides out. i know i made it sound easy but you are going to need some special tools. take it to a dealer.

Q: How do you release the tension on the serptenie belt on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?
How do you release the tension on the serptenie belt on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix to replace the belt? I see the idler arm which has a capped opening but no nut behind it to move the arm, if indeed that is what moves?

A: What you will see is there will be a round aluminum part that will be connected to the back side of one of the idler wheels. Look at all the idler's...probably only two of them, that are smooth. The aluminum colored part will have a square that a 3/8 drive ratchet will fit into. If it does not have this...then you will see aluminum just attached to the back of the idler, that extends out. In this case, just get ( I believe a 15mm socket) and I believe you go counter clockwise....it will be spring loaded. On alot of these cars you have to use what is called a crows foot socket, because there is not enough space between that nut and the unibody. In that case, if you can get a wrench on that nut, you may be able to do it with that...although you have less torque to apply, and sometimes the spring tension is heavy. I use to run an auto electric shop for 5 years and this was pretty much the case on all these vehicles...hope this helps ya!

Q: Will the engine of a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am fit into a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix?
I just got into an accident with my 1995 Pontiac Grand Am. The car is almost in perfect shape except for the roof and possibly the axle. Now, I found a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix for sale cheap, but without an engine. I was wondering if it would be possible and economical to buy the engineless Grand Prix and transfer the Grand Am's engine into it. Thanks to any help you could give.

A: To make sure everything goes smoothly, a 3100 SFI out of the Grand Am to the Grand Prix would work the best. Any other motor out the Grand Am would not be worth the trouble of sticking in the Grand Prix. However if you want to have some fun, find a Supercharged 3800 and tranny out of a post 1997 Grand Prix GTP. It will take some customization but you will have a little hot rod.

Q: how can i replace the brakes on a 1989 pontiac grand prix?

Q: How do you get the oil cap off of a 1994 pontiac grand prix?
I hav a 1994 pontiac grand prix and the oil cap wont come off to put new oil in. it unscrews proally about a half to 3/4s of a turn and then it stops there. is there some button to push or what? cause i have changed oil before and it is not that complicated. Thanks.

A: Push down and turn at the same time- kind of like a medicine bottle that is childproof except with a little more strength. Use a towel for better grip!

Q: What should the idle be set at in my pontiac grand prix?
I've been doing a lot of work on my 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix Le within the last week just to get it back running again. I finally figured out the problm was in my ECM and replaced it. Now I am not sure that I have set the idle high enough...it seems like the engine is starving a little at the stoplights. I know how to adjust it with the set screw... Just wondered if anyone knew where I could find out what it actually is supposed to be set at.

A: Your car needs to go through an idle relearn procedure once this happens than the cars idle will be around 900 in park and and 800 in gear. I have a 1993 grand prix LE and I had to go through the idle relearn. It will take about a week before it will start to idle normally again.

Q: Where can I find 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix Pictures on the net?
I have a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix and want to trade it in a new one. I was wondering if you can see the 2007's on the internet? Or are they even going to make them this year? I know that a while back I was able to see the brand new Chevy Camaro on the net somewhere, so I thought I might could do the same for Grand Prix's. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A: go to pontiac.com

Q: How long will a Pontiac Grand Prix SE last with 118,000 miles?
I`m getting my license in a month and I really like this Pontiac Grand Prix that I found it is $4,000 and thats my spending limit so it`s perfect. It has 118,000 miles on it so i`m wondering how long will this last me?

A: The price is too high. I'd guess it's good for as long as you want to drive it, if properly maintained, but it will certainly need some repairs from time to time. .

Q: Where can I get a silver grille fro my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix?
I have a green Pontiac GT2 and I want to get a chrome/silver grille like the ones the GTP or GXP have. Does anyone know of a place besides the dealership I can get one from? Do you think the chrome/silver grille will look good on a green grand prix? Thanks!

A: You can also check out local scrapyards.

Q: Is a pontiac grand prix a good car to buy?
I currently have a Nissan Sentra but I really like the Pontiac Grand Prix. Are pontiac good cars, about hoe long do they last?

A: I have owned 2 Pontiac Grand Prix and think you will be disappointed.. They do not last that long and resale value goes way down..I paid $25,000 and got $9,000 2 years later. Plus I had to replace front rotor and heater fan out of warranty and radio under warranty
