Q: Pontiac Montana??
I was wondering where i could find a new engine for a 2001 Pontiac Montana or perhaps a used one? The problem with this motor was that i was driving and just happened to look at the temperature gauge and it was all the way up 260 and a red warning light came on and said no engine coolant , so the next day i change the oil to see that the water and antifreeze somehow got into the oil pan, what happened?

A: You could order a new one from the dealership or possibly find one at a salvage yard, also autozone and advance sell engines

Q: Does a 2000 Pontiac Montana have a plug in to keep it warm for winter weather?
I live in a VERY cold area and I just got a 2000 pontiac montana. I am wondering if it has a plug in to keep it warm during the winter without turning it on? I would hate to wake up for work and not be able to start it!

A: I believe that it was an option. Pretty well a standard option in the north and less common in the south. You should be able to find the plug if you look around the front of the engine compartment.

Q: Rear brakes Pontiac Montana sensitive first thing in the morning?
I have a Pontiac Montana Van - recently the brakes started to act up in the rear. If it sits overnight, the next morning the rear brakes are really sensitive and it seems like I don't have any brakes on the front (new pads and rotors less than 2000km). I was going to inspect the rear, but remembered having the same problem with a Grand Am. Once I drive it a bit, you wouldn't know anything was wrong. Thoughts?

A: Have had the same problem on several GM cars that had rear shoes. Wheel cylinders can cause this and should be changed first. It is not all that expensive if you can do it yourself or have a friend who can help. Moisture can collect in the cylinders and make them stick. The other thing I have done to remedy the problem is to turn the drums and then grind the shoes to fit the drum. Many shops don't do this and assume it will "wear in". Lets say that you have a rear drum after it is turned that is 11.025 inches. The shoes need to be ground for a circle of 11.025 inches to achieve full contact. Any really good brake shop would follow these procedures anyway, but finding such a shop is sometimes a challenge. They do exist though. Good Luck.

Q: What it the easiest way to get to the headgaskets on a 2001 Pontiac Montana?
My husband plans to replace the headgaskets on my Pontiac Montana. Is he going to have to jack the frame up off of it, or is there an easier way?

A: i have done headgaskets in the vehicle on those models, after removing intake and exaust manifolds, to remove heads is not that big of a deal, remember new head bolts also, torque to yeild bolts. i would recommend to get a service manual for torque specs and procidures for removal of heads. also head gaskets are leaking for a reason have heads checked for straightness and for cracks at local machine shop, keep all pushrods and rockers numbered for reassembly, pushpods are different and will cause major engine damage if mixed up.

Q: What type of DVD player is in a Pontiac Montana SV6 van?

Q: Where is the number for external paint in pontiac montana minivan 2003?
I have a pontiac montana minivan 2003. It starts to show small rusts on its body. I have 2 questions: 1- where I can find the exterior paint number or code to get the exact color from store for it? I could not find it on dashboard or on the doors. 2- any suggestion what should I do with the rust? Should I buy what is called touch up? appreciate your input a lot.

A: The paint code can be in a few places. Most likely the glove box or the door panels. Look for a white sticker with a series of 3 digit numbers. at the bottom of the sticker will be BC/CC then there will be a number like 52c that will be the paint code. As far as the rust be care full if you cover the rust it will still be there you can sand it off then paint over it.

Q: Anybody know how to program a remote for a 2003 Pontiac Montana?
I have a remote for a 2003 Pontiac Montana that needs to be programmed. Does anyone out there know how to do this?

A: Transmitter Programming Important: All transmitters which are to be recognized by the remote control door lock transmitter (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If the system is placed in program mode it will erase all previously programmed transmitters upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter. Up to four transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle. 1. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder. 2. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse from the fuse block. Refer to Electrical Center Identification Views in Wiring Systems. 3. Close all of the doors. 4. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder. 5. Within 1 second, perform the following actions: Turn the key to ACC, then to OFF, then to ACC. 6. If you only do the 1st step, then the BCM will give feedback indicating the actions so far are incorrect. To program the transmitter, you must do step 5 instead. If step 5 is done correctly, then the BCM may flash trouble codes. In this case, you would refer to Diagnostic System Check - Body Control System in Body Control System. 7. Open and then close any vehicle door. The BCM will chime in order to confirm that the programming mode has been entered. 8. Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for approximately 14 seconds. Important: After approximately 3-5 seconds the BCM will chime once to confirm that the programming has been completed for that transmitter. 9. Repeat the previous step in order to program each additional transmitter. 10. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder. 11. Install the BCM PRGRM fuse into the fuse block. 12. Operate the functions of each transmitter in order to verify correct system operation. (If you need more information, 1-800-492-9568. Ask for Junior in Parts.)

Q: I need help! Does anyone know how big a 2004 Pontiac Montana's gas tank is? How many gallons does it hold?
I live near Topeka Kansas, and am driving to Red Rock in Colorado. I'm trying to calculate how much gas might cost me. I know my van gets 26 mpg, but I don't know how big my gas tank is? I don't know how to find that information out and was hoping someone that is better @ searching for things on the internet would be able to help me. Or better yet possibly have a Pontiac Montana themselves and could just tell me :) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Q: Need to know where I can buy this part for a 2000 Pontiac Montana?
The front turn signal socket part broke in my car, so currently I'm using duct tape to hold it in. Does anyone know where I'd be able to buy this part in a pigtail (shorter) chord as opposed to the harness (longer) chord? Keep in mind that I own a 2000 Pontiac Montana. Thanks in advance.

A: any auto part store will sell replacement pig tailed sockets, check autozone or even wal mart

Q: how do you change the plugs on a 2001 pontiac montana?
i have a 2001 pontiac montana. Its running sluggish and i figured it was time for a plugs and wire change. No prob getting to the front 3 plugs or changing any wires, but the other 3 are in no mans land under the coil packs and everything else. I'm assuming i go in over the top, but do i remove the coil packs, or the plate they sit on? is there anything i need to worry about or to steer clear of?

A: You have to take the top motor mounts off and tip the engine towards you to get to the plugs.

Q: who knows if the pontiac montana comes with a belt or a chain for the timing chain.?
i would like to know if all of the pontiac v6 3.4 Montana's have a timing chain or do some use belts. my van has reached 124000 and am worried if it has a belt that needs to be changed or not to worry because they all come with a chain.

A: It has a chain. There is always a possibility of it breaking, or guides getting worn (which would cause noise), but it's very slight compared to a belt.

Q: Changing spark plugs on a 99 Pontiac Montana?
Does anyone know how or an easy way to change the rear spark plugs on a 99 Pontiac Montana?

A: I had the same problem with a Lumina, remove those dog bones (motor torque struts) that hang from the top of the radiator to the front side of the motor. Take them all the way off if you want. With those off , push the van forward ( while in park) and the motor will move forward a few inches for more clearance from the fire wall. I was able to put a piece of wood( small 2X4) in between the fire wall and the valve cover to keep the car from rocking back. You can also block the wheels if someone else can keep the car from rocking back. If the wires have never been off, they will most likely break. There isn't enough room or long enough arm to get them from the bottom of the van. The plugs and plug boots sit deep in the valley between the exhaust manifold , I taped the extension and spark plug socket together so they would not separate after I got the plugs back in. Remember .....one at a time every time.

Q: how do I change the thermostat on Pontiac montana 2003?
how do I change the thermostate on a pontiac montana 2003? can't find the housing not on either side radiator hose on right or left. is it buried somewhere?

A: It is actually buried under the air cleaner. It isn't as easy as changing a thermostat sounds.

Q: I have an A/C condensate leak in the cab of my 97 Pontiac Montana minivan. How can I track it down?
My 97 Pontiac Montana seems to have an A/C condensate leak inside the cabin. This leak occured after my car repair people did a lot of A/C work, replacing the evaporator (which is in the rear, left quarter panel of all places) and other parts under the hood. I took it back and had them look at things, but they couldn't figure it out, then winter came around and I forgot about it. Well, the problem is persisting and it's driving me crazy. The low points of the carpet on both the driver and passenger side of the van get wet. I have removed the center console that houses the CD player to see if I can actually see water dripping, but I cannot. The volume must be pretty significant, because after sucking out the water with a wet/dry vac, the carpet will get wet again pretty quickly. How can I find this leak and stop it! Thanks y'all. Below, Paul answered the question very well. When I examined in the area he talked about, I discovered that a rubber hose that was about 1" in diameter that is connected to a fan and to a metal pipe that comes straight down from inside the dash, was disconnected. It was a loose fitting pipe in that no clamps or anything were needed to attach it. It just slips onto the receiving nipples. Could the water have been coming from that? It seems that if it's not a clamped connection and judging from the diameter of the hose, that maybe it's for air, not for fluid.

A: The front ac evaporator drain hose is not installed correctly or has become plugged. That hose exits on the firewall just above the passengers side steering rack boot and has a bulb shape on the end to keep insects out. It should drip when the ac is on and it humid. The front evap case is just to the right of the center console between the blower motor case and the heater box over the center hump. Rats rodents some time eat there way up the hose and into the van looking for water so look for a hole above the steering rack right side boot where the hose was, now causing the water not to drain outside but down the carpet padding on the inside.
