Q: What do you think of the Pontiac Torrent?
I'm going to be buying a new car in the near future and the Pontiac Torrent is one of my choices. I'd like to hear from anyone that owns one. Does it ride smoothly? Is it quiet inside? Any other pros/cons?

A: I have a friend who bought one for his wife in February and he absolutely loves it. Good ride and decent fuel economy for an SUV.
The only thing I, personally, would be concerned about it the long-term reliability. My family will never buy another Pontiac, as our '99 Grand Am had countless problems. In addition, Pontiac did not address our needs and complaints about the car to our satisfaction, so we ended up having to trade it in and take an equity loss.

A: There is a slight chance that it could be the same transmitter, but even if it is ,it will have to be taken to a dealership that has a Tech 2 device to program it. Some dealerships will do it for free ,while others have a slight charge

I love the 2008 Pontiac Torrent, but I don't need a brand-new car. How much will it depreciate in one year? The MSRP is around 24K for it brand new right now. Is there a standard formula across the industry or does it just depend on the car?

A: They're right about the 1st year hit. GM cousin the equinox was intoduced with a chinese built engine. if the torrent has this engine, this piece will dead fall in value.

Q: where is the remote negative battery terminal in a 2006 Pontiac torrent?
The manual says it is located in the front of the engine compartment near the engine oil dipstick. I see nothing with a (-) on it. The engine diagram shows the postive but not the negative.
A: If you find the pos.+ post you hook the neg - cable to any unpainted steel under the hood.
Q: Can my Pontiac Torrent tow my husband's Pontiac Grand Am?
My Torrent is the 2006 model All Wheel Drive and his is a 2003 Grand Am. I need to get both cars to Washington D.C. My brother in law wants to try and tow it there so we can be in the same car and take turns driving so that we can get there with the least amount of days and spending the least amount of money on gas. If the Torrent can't tow it, then we'll just drive in both cars at the same time out there...Ughhh, this is a mission!
A: From your distain of wanting to drive that far it sounds like you don't live too close to Washington D.C., right? Either way I am going to advise, you even though you don't want to, to not tow the Grand Am with the Torrent. Although the Torrent is larger, it was never ment to pull anything of that size. The problem is that it causes huge stresses on the internal components of your vehicle, especially your transmission and suspension. Perhaps you can find another alternative. Good Luck.

Hey.. Ive got a Pontiac Torrent, And I just put my key in the ignition and everything turned off. no lights, nothing! And the key is stuck in the ignition and it wont come out. Does anyone know what to do?..

I'm really interested in a 2007 Pontiac Torrent. I'm willing to fork out the money for it but I want to make sure I'm getting a good reliable car for the money. Do you yourself or someone you know own one? If so, how do you like it.
A: Mine was a great buy for the money. The engine is a little raspy; but it handles and drives well. Sure can't attest to reliability, since we've only had it about six months
My last GM vehicle, which was rated to have awful reliability, gave me little problems all the way up to 134K miles.

A: There isn't one. The flasher duties are performed by the BCM.

I bought a 2008 torrent with 10000 miles on it . It came with a 3.4-liter V6 in it . the engine make a ticking noise when running I took it to a dealer and they said the ticking noise is normal for that engine. does anybody know about this problem or is the dealer just telling me what i want to hear?
A: Of course the dealer is going to say anything you want to hear. It's under warranty and THEY DON"T WANT TO PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES. If it bothers you make them fix it. If it is lifter tap after 10,000 miles (shivers with fear) I can only wonder if the car is going to make it to 50,000 miles before it goes to the scrapyard. You have rights. Stand up and make them fix the problem right.

There are 2 types of motors one has 185hp and the other is 263 hp

A: if you plan to sell later the vue would sell faster than the torrent... similar in a gm product maybe the trailblazer or the gmc envoy if they still make it and if not the new acadia

looking at getting a new torrent in winnipeg canada. the list price right now is about 27,000 for lower end model plus taxes. what should i expect to pay in the end? what kind on deal did you get for any new car or suv? where did you buy? tks
A: Lucky for you, the demand for new cars is very low in this economy, so you will pay way under list price.

Base model Torrent (185 hp V6): Sticker = $25,515. Target price = $23.274.
Torrent GXP (264 hp V6) Sticker = 30,115. Target price = 27,664.
GM is so desperate for sales right now, I personally think you could get a Torrent GXP for $25,000. I think the base Torrent is slow and boring, but the GXP handles well and goes fast.
I think you should go for a Torrent GXP and give a starting offer of $24,000. Good luck!
